No English subtitles to speak of. The first bit was at least timed wrong, the rest disappeared. As for the scene itself, although I didn't understand a word of it, I don't see how the emperor saved her. We see a desperate woman hanging in the chains after he left. If he would have saved her, she wouldn't be in chains and he would have taken her away..... Instead we get this and him with a cold look on his face. So, errrr.. . Totally wrong title as well? Also, what is the name of this series or movie? Than I know NOT to watch it.

Overall this drama is perfect, except for the Old Emperor cast, spoiling that perfection.

I think it works out perfectly. Not every actor needs to be a handsome strapping young man with muscles. They can look like the type of guy you see on the street, AKA normal guy which rather makes the show seem more realistic.

It's a kind of torture that compresses the rib cage. As they turn the ropes, the bamboo boards progressively squeeze the ribs, damaging the internal organs and mainly suffocating the victim, in addition to preventing blood circulation. In real life she would be dead, in my opinion.

Do they tell the prop makers to intentionally make all shackles twice the size that they need to be? It looks pretty silly when the actress can literally slip her hands out any time she wants. Is there some rule against making realistically sized restraints in movies?

@@its_hannah249 There are multiple ways that they could make the restraints look more realistic without making the person truly helpless. Make realistic sized shackles, but have them held closed with magnets. A little tug and they open right up. Or have a quick-release link in the chain so that they can just pull on it and it comes loose. Or make the shackles out of rubber so that they can just stretch around the person's wrists.
