I was five or six year old when I saw this movie, and I fell in love with this movie and Sisi story. Romy Schneider was beautiful in the role.

Title is misleading. He was not the sisters fiancé. The mothers had planned to marry him to the elder sister but he fell in love with the younger sister and she with him.

They are all (3) online with German/ Dutch subtitles (spoken in the original German language), but I’ve never seen them with English ones (wanted to watch them with English speaking friends), because even my dvd’s don’t come with that 😢

There is a wonderful mini series called The Empress (on Netflix) about Sissi of Austria. It was fantastic. Her sister was supposed to marry the emperor, but he fell in love with Sissi and vice versa. She was much loved by the people of Austria. I saw the castle, and Sissi’s exhibit when I traveled to Austria.

The two mothers arranged the marriage and gave him the final say. Had they not brought Sisi along for the trip he would have dutyfully married Nene. But he accidentily met Sisi in the woods, outside of all the courts duties and rules and fell in love with her immediately. It should be said that in reality their marriage and her life wasn't as romantic as in this film. But I still love watching this every year on Christmas 🥰 Romy Schneider is one of a kind as Sisi

J'ai vu les films de Sissi avec mes parents, je devais avoir 14 ou 15 ans. Je me rappelle avoir pleuré d'émotion à plusieurs reprises en regardant ces films... Je croyais au prince charmant... Aujourd'hui, 14 juillet 2024,, je les regarde une nouvelle fois et je pleure encore. À présent j'ai 57 ans. J'ai perdu mes parents. Je suis seule et je ne crois plus au prince charmant... 🙏❤🇨🇵

I don’t know why this was recommended for me, but I do love these old movies!! Wonder where I could find the whole movie..? It looks like the voices are dubbed, what language are they actually speaking? I was born in the 80s but I find myself drawn to everything before my time.

This is a series of 3 movies called „Sissi“ about the Austrian emperor Franz-Josef and empress Elisabeth (Sissi). The movies were filmed in the 1950s in German. They are still available on DVD (for instance Amazon) and might be available on some streaming services. As far as I know, there are versions only with the German language or with English subtitles and a dubbed version in English. Make sure that the DVDs contain the language version you prefer as there are different editions.

Le jeune coeur a ses raisons qui supplante les ambitions des parents ... mais si le coeur a parlé et a été préféré à la raison ... le bonheur n'était pas au programme de ces deux jeunes gens, cousins germains, qui se connaissaient à peine. Lui n'a pas su voir derrière la beauté de SISSI que jamais elle ne serait heureuse à la cours de Vienne à suivre le protocole hérité de Chales Quin ... il n'a pas vu que Sissi avair d'autres ambitions fortes inspirés de son père Duc de Bavière qui lui a appris a être libre, comme les voyages lointains durant des mois, et une vie plus simple de grands bourgeois, sans protocole excessif, sans travail, et pour le plaisir uniquement, plus proche de la nature même si riche par ailleurs... et elle même a été subjuguée par ce Prince charmant... mais pas pour elle. HELENE aurait mieux convenue au poste et se serait vite acclimatée aux nombreux devoirs et à l'obéissance à sa belle mère... ils ont commis une erreur et l'ont payé toute leur vie ou ils ont été souvent séparés et en désaccord sur tous les sujets. SIssi a fait son devoir en donnant un héritier a l'empereur ...mais sa nature la rattrapée. L'héritier qui lui aussi souffrira de la rigidité de la cours, de la politique de son père, et de l'éducation stricte et violente d'un futur empereur... il y aura Mayerling.... cest une histoire yriste et une gin de dynastie.
