Learn how to create a dynamics chain in Cinema 4D using connectors. Connectors restrict the movement and rotation of rigid/soft bodies. They help to speed up how dynamics are calculated by restricting forces/collisions.

It's 4:07am here and I have been trawling the internet for literally hours, trying to work out how to stop links breaking apart. Your tip on 'Steps per frame' to better calculate dynamics... game changer!!! Not all hero's wear capes.

Oh man thank you so much! Glad these older tutorials are still helping folks out :)

Great tutorial! Very helpful for dynamics. I have used C4D before but not much in the dynamics area. I hope you are able to post more. Thanks!

This is very helpful. Thank you. I wasn't aware of the Cinema 4D Document/Expert/Dynamic setting stuff. My computer is powerful enough to handle it, so I have 30 steps per frame with no lag, and it fixes so many problems. Thank you :D

Very nice tutorial, was looking for one like this. But what do I do if I have a 300 circle long chain?

I am able to do it in R14. Maybe you don't have the bundle with dynamics?

maybe you could use a symmetry object twice? you would have to create just 75 circles.

Very strange! I do everything exactly on a lesson. The first option (where the chain is broken off - before creation of connectors) - works. But - the second option (after creation of connectors) - DOESN'T WORK! I in accuracy made everything - as on video. After that - as created the last connector and everything adjusted - I press "PLAY" - but occurs nothing. If I move "Hundle" - that it moves "through a chain" - but the CHAIN - absolutely doesn't react in any way to its movement. The chain simply stands still also any movement! Cinema R15 program

@stuart lynch... Dude that is such a redundant dig. There's little difference now. Spec a PC and Mac the same, the mac runs a little faster owing to better RAM management, and not running DOS underneath layers of everything. Say something useful or stay in your amateur-hole:) So far, in 3 years of using C4D on a Mac, it has never crashed. I have a few plug-ins that only work in PC so if I boot my mac in win 7, C4D Crashes quite a lot, as does everything. Hard to crash a mac. Go pro, get a mac. Have an easier life.
It's degrading my viewport here because. Because you're on a mac. :)
