People forget bengali cinema all the time, the things they do in their mainstream cinema is crazy..the masala movies are the smaller segment there..and I feel you on Malyalam too..I think he tried to understand the languages through a category..if not, Telugu could have been skipped rather. Very few Telugu movies I can respect but I have great respect for Tamil, Malyalam, Bengali movies..these industries are serious thinkers..

One man against the system isn't originally South Indian cinema but it's based on Amitabh Bachchan's successful filmography. Bollywood in 70s was all about this particular theme only.

First instance when Indian Cinema was recognised was because of movies of directors like Satyajit Ray, Ritwik Ghatak ( special mention to Telugu director KV Reddy for introducing unique kind of filmmaking rooted to our culture ) , Later with Amitabh Bachchan's filmography directors took inspirations from western cinema which included that underdog type character which later made Amitabh Bachchan what he is today. Parallely Kannada Cinema was doing the same , but it wasn't acknowledged. Rajinikanth introduced the same to Tamil cinema by remaking Amitabh's films but then directors tried to over do the same , which obviously didn't worked , there came directors like Mani Ratnam and then with each decade we got something new.

Could it be said then, that 70s Bollywood might have been seriously inspired from 40s, 50s socialist themes of Bollywood (and the mood of the country at that time)?

True! The amount of hate online for the success of Telugu cinema is never like before. It is getting attacked by both Tamil and Bwood netizens. The irony is that Telugu market is said to be the most open market for outsiders India - any film if the content is good it will be a success in Telugu, Surya is so loved in Telugu but it is not the case there with TFI heroes. Kannada and Telugu are mostly like brothers even coming to markets - so kannada ppl are the only ones who don’t continuously bash TFI. All these years Bwood did a monopoly on Indian cinema but nobody said a word but when Telugu cinema is making Indian cinema proud - ppl have problems 🤦‍♂

If a sports movie is a historic event, the main games are not shown completely because the real ones are watched by many or even if not, those are available on various platforms to be watched. The reason mainly for them is that they try to show the hardwork, challenges that went behind to get that win. Whereas if a sports movie is just a story of a character or if the theme is to encourage people to know more about it i.e to educate them they show in depth which happened in mary kom, chak de India, and jersey. Ps- it is what i understand and how i remember.

Just like south indian movies focus mostly on injustice in society and action themed movies, other regions have their own specialty too, like you can try watching bengali movies coz you guys liked Kahani 1 and it was completed directed and shot at West bengal and majority of the actors belonged to Bengali Cinema industry and there are even more gems in the East Cinema industry and some have even won international awards like Oscar for the movie Pother Pachali its a very old black and white movie which got india its first oscar which was directed by Satyajit Ray and please explore some more movies in other regions and not just focus on South Indian movies

@@vijaykarthik2333 well i never said that there aren't any romance films in the south Indian industries, there definitely are. but there many movies of other genre which are amazing too. where as in bollywood there's hardly any movies in recent years which aren't romantic. i mean obviously there's akshay kumar with his patriotic list of films but there really isn't anything else.

In super deluxe one of the boy wears a shirt with a cat's picture on it. The entire cat can't be seen at any shot, either you can see the cat's face and trunk or its back legs. When the alien create a double of the boy, both hug each other while wearing the same shirt. Only at this point the entire cat suddenly appears as a solved jigsaw between the doubles

its not that many states have regional cinema industries take Bengal, Bengal has one of the oldest cinema industries started by very prominant directors like Satyajit Ray which even won Oscars so its not just talking abt Malyalam having best classic other regions have underrated movies too and till take i think bengali cinema industries pumps really good heart touching cinemas like Kahani 1, it might be a Bollywood hindi movie buts its completely directed by Bengali directors and almost all the characters in that movie were bengalis, Bomkesh Bokshi etc are all bengali region themed so every region has its unique art style to convey emotions

India's best cinema comes from Tamil and Malyalam productions these days...and even there the GOOD ones are not necessarily mainstream, but they have successfully overcome the cheesiness of bollywood along with the over the top machismo, sexism and corny style elements. Also, a lot of Dalit and feminist movie comes from Tamil and Malyalam states, and I love that. Too bad that most of them don't make it too big, for whatever reason. They are way ahead socially and actually have something to say...they're intelligent and conscious. It's actually annoying just how regressive and archaic Bollywood still is....same with Telugu movies (for the most part. I'm telugu, lol, I should know) It's rampant with casual misogyny and male gaze is a requirement. The biggest starts will churn out the same problematic garbage year after year...it's baffling.
@neverstop108
@neverstop108 Жыл бұрын
So you only saw misogyny but never saw how much Telugu movies tell us to respect women? Also Telugu movies may not always have realistic action or drama but always had real talk in the form of dialogs. They also pointed out the misandry in the society very well which you don't care for because you pick only certain causes. I don't care if you are Telugu or not but you have a very limited understanding of Telugu cinema.

What he talked about was prevalent in the 90's Bollywood... Fighting against establishment, rich against poor, haves vs have nots.... You see the pattern. Why Telugu industry is producing the most successful movie is not because it fights against "unnecessary" tradition, but au contraire it sticks tu our culture and tradition and that factor works as a super conduit between the film and the audience... And people love it.

Hi guys, I've been following your reaction to Indian movies for quite a few years now. Love your work, keep it up. That being said, I'd like to encourage you into watching some Bengali movies too, because anything regarding India, including Indian cinema, is incomplete without a dollop of Bengali-induced intellectual cogitation. Here are some suggestions if you wish to start: 1. Pather Pachali (1955) 2. Rajkahini (2015) 3. Meghe Dhaka Tara 4. Vinci da (2019) 5. Baise Srabon (2011) 6. Kalpurush (2005) 7. Chokher Bali (2003) 8. Hemlock Society (2012) 9. Asur (2020) 10. Memories in March (2010) **my personal favourite ^^** Check these out and you'll be nothing less than amazed.

Btw their are also many under rated Hindi movies which are not so popular and may be today's generation will find it slow and like art film but they are real gems of Indian Cinemas. Movies like Anand and all are so ahead of time. Also many case study movies which are obviously over dramatised but pure masterclass on story basis. Bollywood is not only DDLJ and Copy movies btw. Also Malayalam movies have great stories and plot.

Let's be real, movies with certain themes aren't necessarily better loved than others. Even the "standing the test of time" thing is BS... it's solely because certain themes appeal to the kind of person who writes about film etc. That's why, let's say an anti-rich film may get talked about 20 years later, when an equally good and more loved patriotic war film may not.
