I've never seen the movie. Watching this will be the closest to watching it and I plan to keep it that way.

I think you nailed it with this summary. The humour felt like whatever improv got a laugh on the set on the day, with no regard to things like 'being ridiculously exhausted so everything is funny' or 'you had to be there', instead of relying on a tight, slick screenplay.

The first problem with the comedy in this movie is that it was mostly improvised, apparently the actors were encouraged - even expected, to fill out the scenes with "funny moments" without any direction from the script or the actual director. The second problem with the comedy in this movie is that the original Ghost Busters wasn't a damn Comedy - it just had funny moments interspersed between actual plot and action.

The problem with this movie is that it’s entire premise was built on “look were going to change the ghostbusters to girls, how amazing” and then completely forgot the other elements that made the original good…….I’ve not seen afterlife yet, but from the trailers, looks like it’s got things right…..and has a young girl who is a ghostbuster…..but whilst still paying respect to the original!

Honestly... I'd have given ANYTHING for that movie to been good. ANYTHING. Seriously, what makes a great comedy is keeping it to JUST the main cast. Why I loved ghostbusters, where Peck, the Mayor, the people, all were just going about their business and treated the whole series seriously, it was Dan, Bill, Harold and Ernie who made the scenes goofy. I.E. you cut them out and its a drama where everyone tries to take it seriously, its what makes "its true, this man has no dick" fly so much better

I am so surprised that I didn't think about this aspect years ago, but Abby was holding a camera, and photographing the ghost. She was apparently looking at the screen, so she must have seen something. Why didn't they post THAT footage to KZfaq, instead of Erin's freakout footage? At the very least, if the ghost wasn't recorded, there should have been footage of the slime suddenly appearing.

The best part is that they've announced that the Ghostbusters Ultimate Collection omits this film with Paul Feig complaining that it must be an oversight as it won at the kids choice awards. This just proves 3 things: 1. Paul forgot that it lost an estimated $70mill after factoring other costs 2. An award show voted by kids (supposedly) where celebs get slimed on is hardly an endorsement of quality, especially when you consider that it beat Captain America: Civil War 3. Even Sony wants to forget that the film exists.

This movie has been recently been fixed. In the trailer for Ghostbusters Afterlife, they state that there hasn't been a ghost sighting in 30 years. It's been retconned and isnt recognized for the dumpster fire it is, crisis avoided!

First of all, the "something" that was going on when they didn't catch Leslie Jones wasn't about racism or sexism, it was homophobia. See, everyone thought she was an ex boyfriend of Milo Yiannopoulos and refused to catch a gay guy. There were 3 reasons this movie bombed so hard: 1) This wasn't a sequel or anything, it was a direct replacement of the original - only not nearly as well acted or produced. Before even seeing a trailer, this fact pissed off the existing fanbase of the Ghostbusters franchise. 2) There was so much anti-man rhetoric before the release that about 50% of people were prepared to hate it going into the thing. 3) Most importantly (IMO), what made the first movie so magical was the fact that everyone who acted in the original played the part of people who were in a serious movie but were inadvertently funny (except maybe Bill Murray). In this one, everyone in the movie seemed to take the acting approach that they were in a zany, slapstick movie and delivered every line with that attitude. In the first movie, Ray and Egon acted like they were in a high stakes apocalypse drama, acting as the straight men for Murray's smart assery. In the 2016 Ghostbusters, all 4 of the ghostbusters seem to be competing over how many banana peels they can slip on. People haven't thought that shit was funny since the Three Stooges (and I'm not sure they ever did since I've never actually met a real person who thought the Three Stooges were funny).

With so much to work with, how did you keep this down to 20 minutes?

I saw this movie in theaters seen as I love the original, and enjoyed the sequel, I thought I'd give it a shot. It's one of my biggest regrets.

This movie is such an affront to the original as well as all other comedic films that I can't even watch this entire video. This film deserves a million sins on the counter forcing me to add 10 sins to Cinema Sins total sin count, bringing the total to 14.
