Yes, they are surprisingly good for hearing things very tight. The low end is amazing for monitors of this size. I really would like to get the iLOUD MTM monitors as they are like the everyman’s Genelecs 😎 Thanks so much for watching!

Dunban , well this is just the LABS Soft Piano out of the box, no additional processing was applied. When doing my reviews I stay away from adding anything that will alter the sound of the plugin so you know exactly how it sounds on its own.

Also (for both piano and intimate strings) do I need any pedals to modulate the sound when I record live? Does that help with expression? Thank you v much

Ben, so just starting out I would probably recommend the Felt Piano first. The Cinematic piano is nice but the room is very much a part of what is going on and it is a rather larger sound. I would definitely check out the FREE LABS soft piano and as a matter of fact even more of the titles as there are some real jewels in there. Pedals? Yes! One of the greatest tools are those that help us with expression. The Spitfire libraries rely a lot on using an Expression pedal, for expression, and the Modulation wheel to help co trol the dynamic layers. Just think about how a guitar player uses the expression pedal and you are already ahead of the game. Your adventure is just beginning, and a very exciting one may I add, that will be filled with so much discovery. Keep me posted 🤓

Simeon Amburgey I noticed haha!! Well, the entire Originals range is interesting. Some of the brass has some tuning issues (at least last time I listened, been a while). But that Felt Piano, Simeon... it is obviously a matter of personal taste, but I have to say the Felt is in my top 5 list and I like this one... but try the Felt haha

Thanks for watching, Well, what you are hearing is the “room”. Air Studios is a very wet room with a long decay, so the ambience is baked into the sound. You can also here this when listening to some of the other Spitfire libraries recorded at Air. Hope that helps? All the best.

So Cinematic Soft Piano was recorded at AIR Studios Lyndhurst. That being said, AIR is known to have a lot of ambience as with some of the other Spitfire libraries which were recorded there as well. That characteristic ambience is “baked” into the samples. This does give the piano a very interesting character but personally I like to have the flexibility of being able to add. I think it might fit into some instances but each one’s mileage may vary. Thanks so much for watching.
