Obi Wan had his own astromech droid in Episode II Attack of the Clones. It was called R4, it accompanied him to Kameno and Geonosis. Though as a jedi knight, the droid may have technically belonged to the Jedi Order and not Obi Wan specifically. So what he said was true. From a certain point of view.

I'm surprised that these facts aren't mentioned: "Star Wars is a movie." "Luke is a human." "Darth Vader has black armor." "The special editions suck." "The Death Star is in the shape of a circle." It's great that we moved from stating the obvious and having narrators that sound like they're going to hang themselves in boredom to actual facts and narrators that sound like they give a shit. Great job.

Technically. . . Han fired. Not 'fired first,' which implies that Greedo actually got a shot off before his guts boiled. Which was exactly what a guy like Han would do. . . it's why he's still alive. It also shows, unequivocally, what a jagoff Han was, which makes his transformation into General of the Rebellion even more meaningful. Both Leia and Obi-Wan set up the entire reason for Stormtroopers' bad aim. . . At the Jawa massacre, Obi-Wan says, 'These blast points, not made by Sand People. Only Imperial Stormtroopers are so precise.' Later, Leia reminds Han that they escaped too easy, they were allowed to escape.

I agree with you @revdraco. I've been fighting this battle online for decades. Han DID NOT SHOOT FIRST. Because this would imply that Greedo shot. If anyone actually watches the first and the original (1977) version of Star Wars they would see that GL wanted to make Han a cold-blooded killer to set up his character arc.

44 is wrong. The Vader twist was added after new hope finished, just before empire finished filming. Vader isn't pronounced the same as the Dutch and German words anyway, and Vader most likely comes from inVADER, just like how darth sideous comes from INsideous

Correction 1 The Journal of "Wills" not Willis. Correction #2 James Earl Jones didn't want to be credited because he did not think voice acting was even a career or thing (In his own words). They credited him anyways. How can you say it changed his career then turn around and say he wasn't credited. Correction # 3. Carey Fisher said That George Lucas told her there were no Bras in Outter Space not Breast. That doesn't make sense..[ Wow your facts are off.

is there a reason their not doing 107 facts about the prequels? it's my understanding that people now are just hating on them to hate on them...correct me if I'm wrong but whenever someone bases the prequels they never really give true constructive criticism all they seem to do is make jar jar jokes. were the prequels gold? no but removing the nostalgic rose colored glasses the original trilogy suffered just as much criticism. so why not instead of pretending that the movies began with 4 and end with 6 we take star wars in its entirety.

Fact 68 is false, by the way. There was the decoy princess in Episode 1, the bounty hunter in the beginning of episode 2, jedi Ayla Secura (who I guess counts as a background character in the movies) in episode 3, and now the new girl in the upcoming episode 7 making a total of SEVEN main/supporting roles in the seven Star Wars movies. Hmm, sensing a theme anyone? Oh, actually, there's also a couple more on Tattooine in episode 2 plus Anakin's mother in episode 1. BTW supporting characters are NOT the same thing as background characters.

Harrison Ford was actually a carpenter on the set and Lucas wanted him to play Han Solo so badly that he even offered him a percentage of the movie profits (I think it was three percent - I can't remember). At the time Lucas had no idea how big the film was going to be but it made Ford very rich.

People shit on the executive crew for their treatment of Prowse, but it was a two-way street. He was a fame-obsessed bodybuilding jerk that didn't follow the rules. This guy went around spoiling every movie detail he knew and acted like an entitled tool about it. He was so bad with secrets that they didn't even tell him the "I am your father" zinger, they fed him a different line during shooting while they told Mark the REAL line. Hell, he was SUCH a tool about it that Lucas formally banned him from attending official Star Wars events. So sure, the studio did some crappy things to the guy, but it's not like he was innocent.

Michelle Lehto yeah. I knew about a lot of that but I didn't add it in for the sake of... brevity? Idk I wrote that comment a year ago. But yeah definitely. They didn't do things like that just because they felt like it. They did it because he was a dick. I think they were mostly justified except for some of the stuff where Lucas film didn't pay him a lot of residuals because of some loophole.

One of the first chnges in this film happened in 1981. In 1977, the film opened with The Title Star Wars (as with all of the films) and then went into the opnening crawl. In 1981, The more famous Episode IV A New Hope was added. This was because Lucas was convinced that people watching the film would believe that they had missed the first 3 films. This is why most of us fans over the age 45 still refer to the first film as Star Wars while younger fans call it A New Hope.

In Germany Lightsabers are called "Lichtschwert" which translates to "Lightsword". I allways wondered who decided to change that, but you get used to it, when you don't know it any other way.

21:30 sub-fact: 20th Century Fox had to strong-arm those 40 theatres into showing the film. You see, the film’s release date had been bumped up to avoid competition with summer blockbusters, and the theatres refused to show it on the new release date. 20th Century Fox ultimately threatened to disallow them the opportunity to show a film called “The Other Side of Midnight” (which was based on a popular novel and, unlike “Star Wars”, was projected to do well at the box office) if they refused to comply.

Fact #0 : GL was almost killed in an car accident on June,11th 1962 While in coma he had a vision of ancient beings from a galaxy far far away who revealed to him the secrets of the force, the history of the Jedi vs. Sith and the tale of the rise and fall of Darth Vader. Thus the Journal of the Whills was visualised with STAR WARS I-VI

1. I didn't know that, thank you 2. It's semi-obvious (if you stop and think) that it isn't the Equatorial trench because it is way too big if visible from far out.

The Japanese word isn't jida but jidai which means period or era. Jidaigeki is the Japanese word for soap opera or period drama. Don't mean to be a snob about it but its interesting to know how much Japanese history inspired the film. Its a very popular film series in Japan too😄

2 more facts I can add... -When putting together the production team and crew, the Star Wars project was described as 'A Western set in space' (I guy I used to work with turned it down lol. -Another place Lucas 'borrowed' heavily from for the Star Wars universe was Isaac Asimov's Foundation series, in particular the stuff about the Galactic Empire.

Also the original crawl didn't the A New Hope title or an Episode number until The Empire Strikes Back went into development and Lucas decided to complete the Trilogy. Also giving the first hints that this was the middle of a grander story.

They do know the name of the stormtrooper. There was an incident also, with the Sand Crawler, the neighboring country went on alert about a large military vehicle parked near their border, and Tunisia asked Lucas to move the Crawler, which they did.

When you talk about #39 the used future, the reason also why everything looked that way is cause the Empire had full control of the economy which they used to fund their military while other plants, the rebels had to use what they had to maintain their equipment. Now back in EP1, 2 and 3 the universe is way better off with their economy and before any war broke out which let them build new equipment and easily maintain that equipment.

I suggested that The Star War be filmed in 1972 to Steve Spielberg. Lucas just picked up the 1963 novella. Indiana/Indie was Spielberg's girlfriend who'd been to college in Indiana, Close starts at her house. I invented the "used future" not Lucas. He just liked my idea. Darth Vader = Dark Invader. O.B. Juan Kennoby was me. Han was based on me and Bill Clinton/Steve Spielberg. Jedi came from "Do you expect us to follow Jed in there?" (It was a reference to Jed Clampet of Beverly Hillbillies.) I turned to Spielberg's complaint to say, "We are Jedi!" 1 Jed, 2 Jedi (Latin). Raiders was Bill Clinton's Idea--it came from Arkansas Bob and the Alligators--a rip off of Jungle Jim from the 1950's TV. Lucas didn't write the story. Parts were Steve, I did a few bits, but Lucas' wife did a lot. I told Spielberg to use classical music, he wanted to use guitars. Lucas is not a genius, he's a usurper.
