It was his apartment they used as the cop's place.

I know it was the apartment they used in the movie guys.. Thats why I find it interesting that Doyle used to live there haha

Doyle wasn't the only cinematographer on 2046, Chungking and Ashes of Time too. He is an extremely important piece to the movies, but people tend to undermine a bit of Wong's own eyes on cinematography.

I've been there in 2014 and passed by the demolition cite many times in 2017, one of many special movie locations in HK.

Even the Midnight Express snack bar is replaced. :( Wonder if the California bar is still as it is.

I did in 2008-2011, and you could look up underneath the Midlevels Escalator and see the same "jungle/tropical patter" curtains in the flat as you see in Chungking Express. He used to hang out in the Cochrane bar that was at the street level of the same building.

@@unknownunknown5244 the California bar, as you see in CKE (with Tony Leung putting coins in the jukebox), was part of the California Tower owned by HK Tycoon Allan Zeman, which has been demolished and replaced by a bigger tower. NOTHING stays the same in Hong Kong - - - - one of the underlying themes of Chungking Express itself.

Yes, it is no longer there, just like the Hong Kong of that time. The "Golden Age" of HK film and music- - - 70s through 90s. When the building was taken down, not only was his flat demolished (the one that he and WKW flooded for that scene in CKE), but the Cochrane bar at the street level of the building as well, where I once met and chatted with him.
