Cinnamon Bread
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1/2 cup oil
1 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 Tablespoons butter, melted
Preheat your oven to 350°.
In a small bowl, mix together the 1/3 cup of brown sugar and the 1 1/2 teaspoons of cinnamon. Set aside.
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar, baking soda, and salt. Add the eggs, oil, buttermilk, water, and vanilla. Beat just until combined.
Using a greased 9“ x 5“ loaf pan with parchment paper in the bottom, pour in half of your bread batter. Sprinkle with half of your brown sugar & cinnamon mixture. Top with the remaining bread batter. Sprinkle the remaining brown sugar and cinnamon mixture on top. Lightly swirl the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture into your bread batter.
Drizzle the top of your bread with the melted butter.
Bake at 350° for 50 to 60 minutes or until the bread is just done in the center. Allow to cool before slicing.

What impressed me, was the custard cup that you melted the butter in.. I remember when my mother bought oatmeal in a box that had gifts inside.. sometimes it was a cereal bowl, sometimes it was a saucer, sometimes it was a custard cup. They were all brown on the outside and kind of a turquoise green on the inside. I have six of these cups. I am in my late 70’s so it was a long time ago when I was a child. Maybe I was six or seven or eight years old. I’ve never seen another one anywhere except the ones I have.

I ❤ the way you explain what you are ingredients & how you do things. You also cook or bake things that people will actually make not not something from some fancy French chef with 16 steps & in & out of the oven & etc., etc. Thank you for starting your channel. My only complaint is when it comes out of the oven & you taste it and I don’t get a bite!!

Hey Tom i made this and what I did was after I added the cinnamon topping on the first layer I used a butter knife and did a figure eight pattern. Then I added the rest of the batter and did the same thing when I added the topping on top. Then baked it had a beautiful pattern and spread the cinnamon through it nicely. Thanks for the recipes. Love your videos!!

Oh wow! Head explosion! As you were speaking, i realised the meaning of the word, ‘fall’. The ‘fall’ of the year, when the leaves, ‘fall’….we use autumn for the season before winter and i don’t think there is a meaning for the word other than the name of the season. I feel so silly, having never made the connection before. Not only do you teach cooking, graciousness, generousness of both spirit and your table, but you continue to be a teacher . Thankyou.
