I know sir that you are always it seems always on top of it so I apologize if my question is out of line . Keep up with your outstanding channel and your amazing and informative projects.

I really like these! I would recommend covering both sides of a circuit board, because they do contain lead, and sometimes flux and other trace elements like antimony, cobalt, chromium, etc.. Chances are good a wearer won't have a reaction, but to be overly cautious... I would coat anything exposed. Another note for others trying this- be a little careful what you're cutting; avoid boards with large components on them, as they will shatter or split when cut, and if an electrolytic capacitor, it could ooze out. Remember: if you want to avoid ragged edges where components are torn from the board, pre-coat it with a heavy layer of epoxy first, let it cure, and then cut. The cured epoxy should help keep the little gizmos in place- but then maybe there's an issue cutting the epoxy... some methods will work better than others for sure!!!! Another awesome CrafsMan video!!!!

Also, the boards are typically made of fiberglass, and the dust from grinding or drilling will destroy your lungs if you're not careful. Crafsman, I know you mentioned wearing a dust mask when sanding, but in this case that advice is worth repeating -- it's really important to avoid the dust even when drilling or filing. (Keeping the board wet while grinding can also help keep the dust from going airborne.)

If it was sold in europe after 2008 it won't have significant amounts of lead in it, but if you're cutting random circuit boards it's not easy to know

Of course I remember the cabochon video, Crafsman! I have so many left over from ordering on Amazon like you said that I'm making a family tree out of wood and all our pictures in a cabochon. Off topic, I know, but I figured I would share. Also great use of dead circuit boards because they have gold in them! You da best, Crafsman!

ETHAN! :D Someone remembered the Cabochon video! Man, I've been wanting to say that in a new video for a while now. :) And buddy, I've got a good little batch of leftover cabochon pieces myself. Not sure I'll ever use them all. :D

If you take your mixed resin and put it in a light vacuum you can de- gas it , to get the bubbles out. Bit of a faff to find a suction pump and a sealed container with a pipe, but hey, “were not doing this cos it’s easy” You might be able to suck on the container with a big syringe? Oh yea, and if you are using a bit of motherboard you could say “My love for you has so many levels”, and see if she hits you with the frying pan☹️

LOL! Good one, Roger! And absolutely correct about the vacuum degassing. I actually have a chamber and pump, but wanted to do it without that (or pressure-casting after) to see if we can get reasonably clear results. Was actually pleased! I'm thinking if I do a video on wood + resin, I'll maybe HAVE to use either vacuum and/or pressure.

@@TheCrafsMan you are a real jeweler dont ever discredit yourself, are you the best at it no but you know technics that some people would even think of. Jewelry is self expression and you do a darn great job of it. I love all your videos but things with soldering and jewelry making really holds my attention. I like the things you make because they are so different then traditional jewelry. Keep doing you and sharing your crafts!! Wish you all the best!!!
