Phillip S, I agree that is a great suggestion. We also use phosphoric acid in our evaporator and it works miracles. However, it will eat anything plastic if left too long. Thanks for your suggestion! And watching our video! Kevin

@@MillGapFarms As of now, I'm soaking my impeller in white vinegar for 24 hrs. just to see if it has a positive result. I don't have the same kind of scale as in your video, just a buildup of what looks cruddy material( possibly a hard water build-up). Just to test it out, I moved it a little by hand and then plugged it in. It revolved once or twice, so I believe that hopefully it's not as major a problem as I thought. I did purchase a new pump, but hey, if I can do a fairly simple repair to the original, so much the better. These Grunfos pumps are built like tanks and they seem to be made to last. You video has given me some peace of mind on this issue. Thanks again.

It is unlikely that an air lock has occurred. The pump is used to brining in water and air. While it is located in the bottom and you might think that only water is being moved, there are suds that are pulled through as well. Could there be a blockage? It's possible but unlikely. On our unit we have a filter prior to the pump. Things can get past the filter. It's not a paper filter but a screen. chunky stuff could get caught in the filter. This is where I would think a blockage is possible. When I pulled my screen out, I found a good amount of scale in it. Which made the openings smaller and thus reducing the idea of something getting past. What normally happens with our washer is the pump impeller gets out of whack and it's in a bind. @@MillGapFarms I tried to pull the plug but the water never stopped coming out. It was in a 4y old WaterFurnace so it is under warranty, so I let the dealer replace it.

Thanks for watching Tatorimgo. This pump is used for circulating hot water throughout the home. It doesn't increase any water pressure. It used to take the hot water from the propane hot water tank and distribute it through out the home to all hot water faucets or point of use fixtures. It can still do that if we use the hot water tank. However, the propane hot water tank was bypassed and today we use an outdoor boiler or some call it an outdoor furnace. It is fired with wood and heats our home and all domestic hot water. We burn wood all year round to have hot water. The reason we do that is because of this pump set up where it would cause the propane hot water tank to fire off many times during a day costing us a lot of money in propane. It can continuously run and always have hot water at any hot water faucet or point of use fixture or in our case we use a device , called a smart plug, that monitored our hot water use for a week and then set a schedule to meet that demand. The pump comes on during those times when we typically use hot water. The flaw in the slaw in using this device is that sometimes when you hot water at a faucet on the upper end of the home, farthest away from the hot water source where the pump is located, the water comes out warm or cold until the hot water makes it to the faucet. This could take a minute or two. There is a waste of water to a degree. This is how most homes work as you probably already know. Short story long, the pump is designed to run 24/7 but with the device below, it runs during those peak times when we need hot water. Here is a link to the device.
