They have different personalities, but we haven't had time to get to know them. Alpha and Omega were there a good 6 years and saw the band rise in fame. If these guys are for keeps for a while then we'll get to know them soon.

Just from this video, I would say that they have the same amount, if not a smidge more, stage presence. We can't our resistance to change cloud this transition. The old Ghouls were great, yes, but now we have the opportunity to see a new take on Ghost.

literally here bc this was the first link I noticed searching "Jiffy lube ghost," and I'm honestly thrilled with the music. The group's energy seems awesome, with the feuding banjo jingle coming after the riff from Shine On You Crazy Diamond leading into their own song. Gotta check them out

cujet I saw them May 2016 in Birmingham. One of the best shows of my life and I have been attending shows a long fucking time. I saw this 'new' version headline in Atlanta June 10. I agree with what you are saying, but think you overstate a bit. I do prefer the previous lineup, but this lineup certainly is satisfying, if not as sublimely so as the previous lineup. I also like this new bassist better than the old water. All that having been said, Omega's presence is sorely missed.

As I mentioned, the previous incarnation of Ghost was truly superb. I can't understand the need to screw that up and start over. Truly good bands refine their sound, honed to perfection by passion, to the point where it's impossible to duplicate and only the real thing will do. The secret to success, if you will. Consider the Roger Waters version of Pink Floyd, as example number 1. Roger's wonderfully derailed voice remains, but Gilmore's guitar is beyond absent, as it Dave's voice. Not to mention the loss of Wright. Just not the same, not as good, the magic is gone, and Roger as Floyd is simply nowhere near as pleasing. I have no interest in seeing Waters again, it's a one note show.

cujet It's clear to me, that Ghost is going to be a more Zappa-Bowie -esque project going forward. Not in musical style obviously, but in the band's organization, and Tobias' role in it. For better or worse.

Zappa-Bowie would be awesome, but I suspect it's going to be more like Marilyn Manson where the live rental musicians always fall short of the potential.

It's Per Eriksson from Bloodbath and formerly from Katatonia. He is a skinny and small guy, also he is mainly a guitar player, so people don't actually associate him with playing bass and this generates some confusion with the former bassist Megan Thomas.
