In certain network environments, there could be requirements for no traffic to be seen or forwarded between host(s) on the same LAN segment, preventing interhost communications. The Protected Port feature aka "PVLAN edge" will create this isolation by creating a firewall-like barrier, which blocks any unicast, broadcast, or multicast traffic among the protected ports on the switch. The protected port feature is limited to the local switch, and there is no provision in the Protected Port / PVLAN edge feature to isolate traffic between two "protected" ports located on different switches. For this purpose, the PVLAN feature can be used.
Protected Ports are extremely easy to configure.
1. enable
2. configure terminal
3. interface interface-id
4. switchport protected
5. end
6. show interfaces interface-id switchport
Lets lab together, feel free to download the EVE-NG lab file, initial configs and topology diagram for free at www.networkengineerpro.com/fr...
