Whitney looked way more like Dionne, exact same bone structure & facial shape, than Cissy. Whitney almost looked like a mix of John & Dionne. On occasion I would definitely get ‘Cissy’ from Whitney. From the pics we have of her, Whitney was a doppelgänger of her great grandmother Susan Bell Drinkard.

If you've never buried your child, what do you really know about the pain and perceived "bitterness and cold" she projects. I didn't read bitterness or cold at all.... just VERY matter-of-fact with a healthy dose of Newark, NJ's "don't try it!" God bless Ms. Cissy. Viva Whitney Houston. 🙏🏽✨💕✨

De Vida Iyalorisa Ọyafúnkẹ́ I believe she came across as bitter and cold long before she buried her child. Just the way she comes across, not saying it's the case. Maybe that's why she didn't become commercially successful, people didn't take to her. Whereas Whitney had a softer, more endearing demeanour.

JDhappy81, Hi there. You know, your point is well made and likely very valid. Great observation, actually. Disappointment effects people differently. Some of use it as fuel for traveling to a better and more productive place. (While) others use disappointment as a rest stop and meeting place for pain. Whatever it is with Ms. Cissy Houston, I am certain suffering has taken its toll. Maybe now she may enter peace via her acceptance that she did the best she could with what she had for her beloved daughter and granddaughter. It's all very sad. Thank you for replying. Blessing to you. Peace to everyone here. Whitney Houston appeared to be so much more than her struggles with addiction. Rest in Perfect Pitch, Whitney Houston. We miss your gifts and talents. 🙏🏽🌬💞✨

Joe I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I understand people wanting to give their version of events if facts are incorrect. That makes sense. But to be honest the only things the press ever said about Whitney were that she took drugs, her husband cheated, their marriage was in trouble. All of these things were true, so I don't see where they lied about her. Cissy writing the book confirmed all this and more, which I felt dragged her (Whitney) further through the mud. Whitney would not have wanted a lot of the details about her personal life exposed by someone so close, so it just sits uncomfortably with me as I do believe it was solely done for the money.
@JDhappy81
@JDhappy81 6 жыл бұрын
Joe Yes I have to agree Pat Houston (who isn't even called Houston it's Garland) was a shady character. From the start she was never qualified to be Whitney's manager. Whitney was most certainly not in any fit shape physically, vocally and mentally to go out on a world tour, Pat advised her to do this again, I assume for money. However that tour ruined her reputation as one of the best live vocal singers and I believe led to her ultimate downfall. I think she showcased to the world just how much she lost the voice and it will have devastated her. She should have just done studio work or retired. For Pat to go on to record on our own so soon afterwards was a disgrace and the show was just appaling.
@JDhappy81
@JDhappy81 6 жыл бұрын
Joe Yes absolutely. Whitney really had the wrong in-laws around her and unfortunately from both sides, Houston's and the Browns. They all exploited her.

In my opinion they had the right to do a reality show if they wanted to and her mom had a right to write a book if that's what helping them get through there grieving process then so be it and Whitney in my opinion would've mined one bit. I don't believe they were trying to make money off her I do believe they trying to get through it all. As for Bobbie Kristen not happy about her grandma writing the book she should've realize that she didn't have a say because that's your mother's mother that knows more about her then she did and Bobbi Kirsten needed to respect her grandma like it or not.

I think she handled this interview with a lot of class. She was asked some very difficult questions about some very raw content in front of a live studio audience on national television. She could have erupted and said anything. And you know what? I’d have still commended her for attempting an interview. The thing is, we expect to bury our parents one day, but parents never expect to bury their children. So the fact that she was able to hold herself together so well for this interview, after only a year, is quite remarkable to me. Unless you’ve been dealt that hand, you can’t say much about it. I don’t want to join that club and I pray I never have to. I believe she wrote that book to defend her daughter against all the garbage circulating through the media. It was the only way she could ensure that her words would be repeated the exact way she intended for them to be and this avenue (a book) allowed her to cover any/all topics with as much depth as she wanted, while giving her time to think of how she wanted to word it in order to keep it as tasteful as she could. I haven’t read it, but come on, given the subjects that followed Whitney throughout her life (even after her death) that’s a pretty large task to take on. I commend Cissy for her strength in attempting to do so. Her granddaughter didn’t like it, but she was also a grieving young person. We don’t always see things so clearly through our own pain, especially at that age. Also, some times as children, we feel we can lay more claim to our parents than the other loved ones can (i.e. “MY mother”). I’m sure Bobbi Kristina wasn’t in a clear mindset during her grieving to think about Cissy carrying Whitney in her womb, singing to her, cradling her, protecting her, nurturing her, praying for her, teaching her to walk, waiting to hear her say “mama”, helping with her homework, giving all that motherly advice ...Bobbi Kristina wouldn’t have completely understood all the love, hopes, dreams and fears that a mother carries with her while raising a child. If she did, I don’t think she would have been so upset with her grandmother. She (Bobbi Kristina) was in mourning and reacted. She was a little girl who just lost her mommy. At the same time, this much older woman is grieving the same person, but in a very different way... Cissy was a mommy grieving the loss of her baby girl. Such different memories, such different heartaches. Both grieving the same person in such a substantially different way. A mothers love and attention is selfless; always giving. Whereas a child’s existence is more of the taking nature until the child gets to be much older. It’s just the way we were designed. Truly it was heartbreaking for both sides. They were both robbed of a beautiful person.

I feel like she was only strict with Whitney but not Michael and Gary. That’s probably why she always wanted approval from her mother and always talked about making her mother proud. Her brothers might’ve been confident to give their little sister drugs because they knew there wouldn’t be any repercussions to be received from their mother. She talks about how she raised a superstar but doesn’t want to acknowledge how she failed Whitney as a child. She knew Whitney’s brothers were bad influences on her daughter but she didn’t address it. Everyone failed Whitney.

It is quite impressive that just a year later she could muster the gumption to talk so candidly about this. That was her ONLY daughter. THE Whitney Elizabeth Houston. I mean, can you imagine the pain. Not that it is any different than losing your own, but Whitney was our EVERYTHING. I applaud Cissy for saying what needed to be said. Not shy away from the naivety of her daughter's real life. And putting her final say so on what was a very accomplished individual.

But how do you know the process of writing the book about her daughter wasn't therapeutic for her while she grieved? Watching the whole world talk and have an opinion about your child does not seem like any easy situation to restrain from. This is not her friend, husband, boyfriend, cousin, sibling, but her child, that SHE gave birth to. The fact that people still perceive her as being in the wrong is nonsensical. And since then, no one's heard from her. And still the world talks and milks her daughter's name any moment they get. She'll have to live with that reality for the rest of her life.

Mary Sanchez you have to understand the culture. Cissy was of the generation who were taught to be strong not emotional ( if she cried or let out her feelings, she most likely did it alone in her room or with someone real close to her) So many black mothers have had to burry their children and still find the strength to keep on going.
