The Des Moines and Raccoon Rivers are essential waterways that run right through the heart of Polk County. These important natural resources suffer from pollution issues, and the Polk County Board of Supervisors have found it necessary to invest in a water quality program to address these issues that will be headed by Jennifer Terry. Through her work on the Iowa Environmental Council and Des Moines Water Works, Terry has proven to be a long-standing advocate for building a better Iowa for our families. Now at Polk County, she will lead a group of scientists on the Central Iowa Source Water Research Assessment (CISWRA) project, a two year endeavor that will use scientific data to outline the pollutants of concern in the two rivers, as well as how to protect and restore them.
