A flowing stream can make your vanilla city look more dynamic.
Follow these simple steps and let’s create one. No mods required.
Note: Parklife and Natural Disasters DLC are required.

Looks great. I love putting in a lot of details to my cities but I've never thought of detailing what will be underwater.

I’ve known a lot of those techniques for a while but I never thought of using the nature reserve paths under the stream. Brilliant touch!

Nice new channel for vanilla console players like myself. I have made a few rivers myself and something to be very mindfull of when doing this is if you're not carefull you can cause flooding outside your 9 tiles. Which can be very bad and a lot of work to fix

Nice work, currently got the archipelago set up for my city and have been reclaiming land, dutch style, ultimately looking to create a stream flowing from my sewage disposal 'pond' (hollowed out from one of the islands) down into an area on the former seabed where I have lowered the terrain with the intention of creating a scenic new lake.... Slow process, but the ambition is there and is gradually taking shape. Will keep these tips in mind when I get to that stage 👍

Do you have all the dlc for ps4? I have just started to play and only have the mass transit dlc. What other ones would you recommend? Could you also do a tutorial on how to use the landscaping tools in detail? Is there a way to undo if you make a mistake? Edit: subbed. Thank you for the content!

Thank you so much for the sub and for the comment. Personally, I would recommend the Parklife DLC. It's the easiest to manage and lots of assets that you can use even outside the park area, like the tiles and coffee shops. Green Cities follows next. Sure, I'll do a tutorial for the landscaping, soon. Unfortunately, there is no easy undo in CS console. You have to make use of the landscaping tools to raise the land for example, if you lowered it and want it back.

Thanks. :) Yes, you can >>> You can have the source from a river. Just make sure it is upstream and have the end somewhere downstream. Pause the game the entire process.

This could be tricky and can flood your city if not done properly since you don't have full control on where the source should be. Just turn off auto save before you start.

There are some natural water outlets on some of the maps, these spring water when the land is below a certain height, they are very easy to manipulate with the terraforming tool.

@@dkjah Yeah, Fishers Enclave and that desert map have lakes which doesn't dry up and can be a good natural source.

If you have the Green Cities DLC you should be able to use the eco water treatment plant, without DLC you will have to have the water source be from a river.

Hey there Ricky. Thank you for that awesome Idea i always tried to make my own River or Stream. Tried this Method yesterday and it works well. Only Thing that bothers me are the 'flooded' Symbols flashing all across my River, telling me that the Path under the Surface is...well it's flooded.😁 do i have to turn the Symbols of or is there another Way around?

Can you make a river in base game without any dlcs?

It will be difficult since the water outlet is from a DLC, and the base game footpath behaves differently with the ground. You can make a river but it be shallow and you have to get the water source from existing sea or lake.

Is normal that the flooding icon keep being shown? Is there a way to get rid of it?

The flooding icon is normal. Usually at the end of the path. Just ignore it, it won't get destroyed.

@@RickyKingPlays I couldn't ignore the flashing dispairing icons, so I deleted the paths. Without it, the stream isn't as natural and fluid as yours, but it works. The trees do an excellent job as well.

Why is the path at the bottom necessary?

Since the path doesn't change when you raise or lower the terrain, it will give a steeper river banks, and a narrow stream.

Do you have water pumps drawing water from that river? Which map you're using?

My city does that too until I made large quays on each side of the river which makes the city look more urban, but I kept having to raise the quays...

Great tutorial! But you spend way too much time showing what you’re doing. Consider speeding up the footage a little bit or showing parts of the process rather than the whole.

If you don't have Parklife or Campus, you can have a wide shallow stream. If you don't have Disasters, you can use an existing body of water as source, some maps have lakes, and almost all have rivers.
