Yeah. I had that problem. I had just hit 50 thousand and built a HUGE airport and really detailed too, but didnt save. Then a built a damn and it was in a really bad location and I ended up flooding most of my city and had to quit and come then re do ALL the work I had done in the airport.

its almost 2021 and the game totally changed. The gameplay got way more interesting, as we got more and more updates & dlc-s. Also I really love that when a dlc comes out, its always really well made, and can really enhance the gameplay. Lets not forget about the steam workshop, it has got over 250K player made custom models / asstets/ mods / etc. This game is really awesome, I love it :D (sry 4 bad english)

Well i think disasters could be great for serious runs. (Emphasis on COULD) if we had the option to disable absurd disasters that would never actually happen (like godzilla or some shit) and keep realistic ones like earthquakes and floods (without complete randomness, it has to depend on the region youre working with)

In SimCity and most other city sim games, you could select which disasters would occur. The reviewer does a good job pointing out that even that aside, there isn't enough spontaneous activity happening. There are no "events", and even things like crime and fire are non-issues.

***** Mass Fire spreads,Hurricanes,Tornadoes,disease outbreak,riots,etc. All of these should be added to the game.They're realistic and goes hand and hand with building an actual city.

Jaskon Goodman Agreed. Hopefully a mod or expansion will roll that out. As it is, the game is great. When people are asking for more (while not complaining what is in the game) is a good sign.

This looks like a game you can have a school/college Social Studies class or Econonics class play. Seems like you can learn so much about the world and concepts from this... taxes, resources, population, etc. I would put this on my projector in class and then have kids take turns making decisions on what move to do next, and then each day in class see how the city is managing and have thoughtful discussions on the city's success or relative failure

But they are kind of right to a certain point, disasters should exist at some extent, Im not talking about exagerated, almost cartoony disasters like in SC5. But if i was to place some disasters on Cities Skylines, i would add Earthquakes, Tornadoes, Floods, Disease Outbreaks and Terrorism

I gotta say the idea of a zombie apocalypse sounds great, imagine a city this size with infection spreading about, a few bastions of popuation, and out skirts with buildings on fire or ruined and upturned cars. Then you have to reclaim the city, getting power back on etc

If theres a ton of mod tools available, it wouldn't surprise me if there will eventually be mods for natural disasters made by the community. So that will be that problem solved in no time :) Always smart to allow mods in the game.

Like 8 years ago I played a game like this at a cousin of mine, obviously it was a Lot smaller scale but there were cars driving in it and people walking and there was a good freedom of building stuff. I never knew what the name of the game was... This looks similar but 100 times better, I need this! A few months and I get my PC and there will be so many good games on there, this, Elite Dangerous, Flight Sim, The Witcher 3, GTA V with mods, space engineers etc.

Exclusives in 2015 so far, with their meta scores: PC: Grey Goo (76), Total War: Attila (80), Cities: Skylines (89), Sid Meier's Starships (74), Homeworld: Remastered (86, also the most legit remaster in the history of remasters). PS4: Helldivers (81), The Order: 1886 (65) Xbox: Screamride (71) And PC still has Pillars of Eternity later this month. But, PC has no games, am i right?

DJ Otterz Grey Goo was a nice surprised. Didn't expect such high production values from that game. The very solid start for a new franchise. Hopefully there will be sequel with more missions and better balancing. The game was solid overall.

I really wish city builders had a.i like advisors and villains from simcity 4. They made the game so much fun to play. You felt like someone was admiring/judging your work as a mayor. It was so much fun.

Hands down the best city sim I have played since Sim City 4. Doesn't bother me that there's no random, annoying events. It's great fun. The roads can be annoying and constructing them is far from being as slick as Sim City (2013), but that's the only downside. Very minor and I'm sure there'll be updates to come that will fix that.

If you like any sim game, you like this one. I only played The Sims and never played a city building game in my life. The controls are easy and it eases you into the genre without overloading you with information. For veteran players, there's plenty of customisation to play around with, not to mention all the steam workshop content. Buy this game. It's $30. Help stick a middle finger at EA and Maxis.

2:38 did u try solving way of transport from the industrial zone to residential. If theres no easy way they simply wont go. Adding a train station to it normaly helps due to the train being the fastest inter-city travel

+SCARFACE9511 Tropico 3 and 4 is the only city sim I've played since Simcity 2000 .. Love the tropicos and love Skylines, which I just started playing in the last few days. Tropico is more interesting in some ways , due to the more in depth scenarios -- but it's much more restrictive. If you like the city building aspect of tropico and can do away with the personality , you'll prob like skylines. p.s. I own all the tropicos on steam but don't really own skylines yet -- just "borrowed it to see how I like it" .. but it's going to be my next game purchase. Absolutely worth the $30 , I probably won't even wait for it to go on sale.

Something to keep in mind. Its only $30 and between mods and continued developer support, many features will be added, maybe even disasters. The game is currently not very polished but still super addictive and well worth its pricetag in its current state.I wouldn't be surprised if some features were held back to have a hands off non intrusive drm. Autosave for example, is not a feature out of the box. There is a mod for this and going through the steam workshop is the easiest way to get it. Personally I like this open approach to detering piracy much better than having some intrusive spyware from EA on your computer.

Great, but when will they make a city builder where you actually have realistically looking cities! Not these colourful/pastel/candy graphics. It could be somewhat gritty like New York, and darker while still remaining sophisticated. Think I'm not the only one craving this. Just a hint for the devs. And add catastrophes, but with an on/off switch.

+CJ “Scoop” Charnas You can via mod but that takes all the challenge out of it ... Would be like using an invincible mod on dark souls or any other game. At that point it becomes less of a game and more of an artists design tool .. To each their own, though.

Was sad to hear about Maxis shutting down. Since I really wanted Sim City 2. But then I heard about this game, and glad that it plays just like Sim City, except much better. Haven't played it yet, but I am excited to try this out when I can. Sim City wasn't too bad it was just so frustrating on depending on other cities instead of making a massive city like this game. Seriously don't understand what Maxis was thinking making cities that small.....

Really awesome game. Love the traffic & mass transit, it’s so much better than SimCity. Don’t really care about the lack of disasters, building my freak city is what I play these games for.

Well now that there is the natural disasters dlc this game is waaaay more fun and interesting.

It started raining and an eighth of my city was flooded. Their are most certainly natural disasters that effect the game.

As Tesla today released a message they will release an update which will allow a vehicle to steer it self completely.. I'm sure these guys will be able to put some godzilla/ufo in a game.

i had to leave this game after my whole city had a massive shortage of hearse shops, so i made tons of those shops but still bodies werent being taken from homes. Even after I built one shop right next to a house with a dead man and another across the road, the body was not taken. This was very unrealistic.
