Do not offend Milan by comparing it to New York or London. Milan was the capital of the Roman Empire when London was a village and New York did not even exist. Milan as any Italian city, has a unique history in the world, it was the favorite city of some emperors like Constantine, a city loved and favored by people like Leonardo, Manzoni, Verdi, Napoleone and many others.

Do not offend, but naples was the capital of South Italy before the unification of Italy... Naples has the first university of EUROPE, Naples is one of the most Ancient city in EUROPE, in Naples was created the first rail station NAPLES - PORTICI, IN Naples was created the first hospital of Italy..... When Milan was just a Little village on a river. Naples was a capital city and still now it s important for all of south Italy ;)

It is. I live on the outskirts of Milan and I could never live in the center. It is a beautiful city but I prefer quieter cities like Florence, Venice, Bergamo or Como, very close to Milan.

it depends on what you like imo, if you love modernist architecture you'd better go to Milan, if you prefere massive imperial stuff, go to Paris (because the city is very stric about architecture so it's less "booming" than Milan !
