That first sentence from Norman lets me know that he a gold medal contender . He isn’t afraid of being honest and himself , that’s important to being a champion. A few years ago , he would have answered like an ai robot with a generic response. I think he is a real shot this Olympics

Yes but it's a flying 100m split, a lot faster than an actual 100m

I love his answers! He’s very easy to talk to. He had a challenging technical race!! He’s driven and talented! Can wait to see him put together the perfect race in Paris!!

I appreciate Michael Norman's comments on accountability for his performance and his commitment to improving it. His issue stemmed from not being challenged in previous meets, and he needs to make some adjustments, which I hope will work. His competitors in Paris will be much more challenging than what he experienced on Monday, but as long as he runs each heat as if it were a final-like Grant Holloway, Sydney McLaughlin, and Levrone-he will be just fine. Bring home the gold, Michael!

As a fan, it's frustrating to watch his sporadic performances since 2018. The way Quincy Hall ran him down in the final straight away was disturbing.

Thought about the same thing, he most definitely would’ve won had he chilled a little more on the backstretch. Crazy he would do that with his experience I wasn’t expecting that from him.

Michael should have had more races to deal with the kinks but it sends a clear message to athletes that one or two races before major events will not cut it...the big 3 women in Jamaica are about to get a reality check this weekend about resting on their laurels....

I think that Michael is just not race sharp yet, but I believe that he will fine tune his race strategy by Paris. I believe that he was thinking about dropping a sub 44 race, and he may not be quite ready to hit that mark yet. This could be a blessing in disguise.... because he will be hungry and focused in Paris.

SRR got 3rd in 2008 Olympics because she went out fast and had nothing left. 2012 she let others pass and then she ran them down for gold. Norman better clean up and focus on the medal and not the tîme. Good Luck in Paris!!!!!🎉🎉🎉

It wasn't really about race strategy. Quincy was just better.
@blainenewton7188
@blainenewton7188 Ай бұрын
Quincy may have been better, but it IS about racing strategy to a large degree. Michael Norman has run 43.45, so his PB is way faster than everybody else's. If you go out too hard in a 400m, you'll tank down the home stretch. Ask Matthew Boling, who wrote the book on it. You have to plan the race and then execute it to maximize performance.

@@blainenewton7188 as a former 400m runner, you hit the nail on the head. Michael ran his first 200 in 20.9. With the backstretch in 10.0 flat. Way too fast!
