That's a good looking watch with nice tech inside. For me, Moon phase seems like a cooler complication on a perpetual calendar quartz. Quartz has its own strengths, and this is one of them: allowing you to enjoy complications with an absolute minimum of effort on your part. Instead of keeping a "complicated" watch on a winder when you can't wear it, you can probably stuff this light-powered watch in a drawer for half a year and get away with it.

I just bought the green version. I like it except for the anti-reflective treatment, if there is any.

Great video. I totally agree with you. Just bought this watch and I just love it.

this red one you measured it's thickness at 12, but the grey dial was 11. Is the gunmetal bezel or the red dial version different?

Great video! Does the band/clasp have any micro adjustments? Sizing at jeweler is a pain..

Special watch. Is that big black circle down on the dial have a function?
@scottkelsey84879 ай бұрын
That's the moonphase function. It's just not showing ATM because it's almost a new moon.

Question though, why the dial looks purple? I googled it, some of the pics showing dial to be pure red... does the dial's color change??

It's purple
@jay-zm8le8 ай бұрын
@@EricSloferwatchreviews oh, so there isn't any actual blood red dial? I found out there are 2 different model numbers, one being BY1018-55X and another is BY1018-80X, the second one just like is your video, but I can't find any videos of the red one, all the videos look purplish....
@holnivek5 ай бұрын
@8leI'm not sure what's the difference between the two, but there isn't a Tsukuyomi with a blood red dial. The blood red you see on the Citizen website is exaggerated, in reality they look like the one in this video. Still a beautiful watch though.

@@jay-zm8le There are actually three models (and even a fourth with a green dial found on UK and Mexico websites): Silver dial (BY1010-57H) - for the regular moon, Blue dial (BY1010-57L) - for the Blue Moon (the third full moon in a season that has four - which usually gives us two full moons in a same month), and Red dial (BY1018-55X) - for the Blood Moon (or eclipsed moon which is tinted orangey-red). The latter dial is actually more wine red than blood red (and they call it 'deep red'). I own the red one, and it is indeed like the colour in the video, and not really red. I thought it was actually purple when I bought it, but later learned they said the dial is 'red'. The lighting in the website picture makes it look brighter, but it is purplish in reality. Also, notice that on the website, the Red Dial (BY1018-55x) has a black bezel, unlike the other two models which have a silver one. I hope this helps.

@@jay-zm8le Apologies in advance if this is a duplicate reply. I edited my previous one and now, I can't find it. I probably forgot to save my edits. So here's basically what I said. On the American and Canadian Citizen websites, there are three dial colors which I guess represent different "full moon 'colours' ": Silver (BY1010-57H), which I assume is for the regular moon, Blue (BY1010-57L) for the Blue Moon (which is the third of four full moons in a season), and Red (BY1018-55X) for the Blood Moon (the orangey-red moon when it is eclipsed).The Red model BY1018-80X is probably the European version of the same watch. Not certain. There is even one with a green dial on the Mexican and UK websites. Note that the Citizen website doesn't refer to these models as Regular Moon, Blue Moon or Blood Moon (but Arizona Fine Time calls this one 'Blood Moon'). So these descriptions are just my assumption. The red one is not 'blood red' for 'Blood Moon', but rather, they call it 'deep red' on the Citizen website. The actual colour is indeed purplish, like wine red, but the lighting in the photo on the website shows it more bright. I own this one, and I can confirm it is more purple, exactly like in the video. In fact, it's only after I bought it in a store and found the description online that I realized they call it 'red'. I thought it was purple. Also note that the bezel of this one is black, while the other colours have a silver ring. Hope this helps (again).

What is the difference of by1018-55x and 1018-80x , i see they a similar sane colours
@Maverick3737373 ай бұрын
Don't quote me on this, but I believe the 55x is the North American model and the 80x might be European one?? But I haven't found any proof to substantiate that. If I'm right, the only difference might be the moon phases which are slightly different from one continent to another (the full moon in Canada appears on April 23, 2024, but in France, for example, it will appear on April 24, 2024). There is a +/- 2 day adjustment you can do to make sure the moon phases on your watch match the actual moon phases on your continent, but since this is a radio-controlled watch which adjusts to the Atomic Clock nearest you every night, you might have to reset the moon phases if you choose the European model, but I can't confirm if that is the case. Then again, when the watch is set to the proper time zone, the moon phases probably follow. Just something to look into. If you're in North America like me, I'd play it safe and go with the 55x model (like on the Citizen website) if I were you. My two cents. :-D
