These were the real deal. Not that modern versions of these by Citizen are bad by any means, but they are cased in either China or Thailand these days and are only antimagnetic up to 4,800 Gauss - the original version was entirely made in Japan and boasted a whopping 16,000 of antimagnetic properties.

A really interesting history of the watch. I purchased a new 7828-H09971 TA with the original Kevlar strap when they first came out in 1999, as I was astonished by the design and the manufacturing attention to detail. I've always loved it but I've never worn it so it's still in as new mint condition and running perfectly as it has done for the last 20 or more years. I think I'll hang on to it as I reckon that like yours, it will become quite collectable in years to come. Great video - Thanks!

My, no Ray Mears Citizen, which is identical to this watch, has a Kevlar strap and the blood type hardware. It's been running in my watch box for three years unworn and is keeping perfect time.

this is indeed like the ultimate field watch.. a good size, solar, tough as hell, bigand easy to use crown, very legible, decent lume and a little special with the RM / Yellowstone connection.. i knew there were a few RM citizen tough watches but i haven't seen this one before. great video!.. i love field watches, but apart from timex all the budget friendly ones are big, and the timex ones tick very loud.. if casio made their mtp-s120 in 38mm in a sandblasted finish it would be a perfect budget field watch.. i don't know why they make 'em so big, there are a few vintage models that are smaller but they aren't easy to find.. i've been wearing my snk803 for a while now and can't get it off even though i scratched it a lot and i know i won't be able to replace it when it gets realy bad since it's been discontinued..

Im from the UK so have the royal navy commandos version and it's 10 years old and it's just a tough no nonsense reliable watch. My since deceased brother bought it for me so I'll never get rid of it. Recently bought a PMD-56 JDM version which I love also. I'm a massive Citizen fan and love the Promaster range, particularly these land versions they're just so fit for purpose well made and unbelievably comfortable watches. Anyways keep up the good work

The Titanium Promaster tough is still in current production. It is only sold in Great Britain. I recently purchased 2 of them: 1 black dial, matching titanium bracelet; 1 with navy blue dial with matching blue kevlar strap. They are both Ecodrives,,monocoq construction, 300 (!) M water resistance, 40 MM case diameter, arabic numeral dial. Marketed as “Citizen Tough.” Citizen USA was recently selling a USA version: 41 mm titanium plated ss case, no arabic numerals, WR only 200 Meters as compared to 300 M….a much lesser watch, for almost the same price.,Thank you for this mist informative review, had no idea whatsoever about the history of this design priorti your video.😊

Stunning, I've never seen this in the UK.

I have 6 or 7 of these and a few that are in mint condition (non-yellow version) They are fairly easy to service need a special tool to open them without marking them. The batteries last about 15 years or so gradually the life reduces. The main issue is if you open these and the gasket is damaged you can't get a gasket anymore, I think this is why citizen does not service them anymore. I have had only one fail due to bad oil which I serviced and have been wearing for a few years now.

great watch. mine is 25 years old, and still perfectly working. by the way, it's not equipped with a battery, but a condensator.

I own a Royal Navy one and it's essentially my "G-Shock" watch. I think I would prefer one of those older ones just because they seem thinner. The RM is 300m WR and seems to have a thicker sapphire crystal. As to how long an ecodrive cell last, I believe Citizen states a loss of capacity of 20% each 20 years, so it's pretty much something that will last you forever and ever.

Wow the bezel of this watch looks way better than the other Promaster Tough watches. Overall it looks thinner. I wish they still made them in this size.

that total weight - with the strap - is about the same as my G-Shock square tough solar watch - and also about the same as a Casio AW168 - which are both very light and comfortable watches
