I love how the guitarist was completely enthralled with JC’s playing. I think he’s the best saxophonist of all time, alive or dead

I'm no afficiando..but saw this guy live and realized that all the other saxophonists I'd seen uptil then wasn't even in the running..one of the few artists to give me goosebumps and actually made me listen for the full hour and a half set...one of the greats

Amazing musician. Very cool guy. Love the way his humorous, cheeky side pours out through the bell of the horn.

Sempre achei James Carter acima do "estratosférico". O sax é simplesmente um tubo nas mãos dele, ele faz o que quer, o que sua mente quer. Magnífico!

I listen some amazing stuff, there is nothing Carter can’t do with his horn. Back to Getz though I enjoy my hearing and a softer sound. But nobody amazes like Carter, serious training and imagination.

Gee, but it's tough to be broke, kid. It's not a joke, kid, it's a curse. My luck is changing, it's gotten from simply rotten to something worse Who knows, some day I will win too. I'll begin to reach my prime. Now though I see what our end is, All I can spend is just my time. I can't give you anything but love, baby. That's the only thing I've plenty of, baby. Dream awhile, scheme awhile We're sure to find Happiness and I guess All those things you've always pined for. Gee I'd like to see you looking swell, baby. Diamond bracelets Woolworth doesn't sell, baby. Till that lucky day you know darned well, baby. I can't give you anything but love. Rome wasn't built in a day, kid. You have to pay, kid, for what you get. But I am willing to wait, dear, Your little mate, dear, will not forget. You have a lifetime before you. I'll adore you, come what may. Please don't be blue for the present, When it's so pleasant to hear you say I can't give you anything but love, baby. That's the only thing I've plenty of, baby. Dream awhile, scheme awhile We're sure to find Happiness and I guess All those things you've always pined for. Gee I'd like to see you looking swell, baby. Looking at these sophisticated player in comment telling how jame carter style is ‘unsophisticated’. JC up there playing on stage , and touring his musician life while these armchair musician complaining, oh well the irony
@kafenwar4 жыл бұрын
Too much flash and dazzle and minstrelizing. He can't play a coherent solo, which is why he resorts to all that off-the-wall jive.
@kafenwar3 жыл бұрын
@Mr. Octobass I don't think he's "unsophisticated" in his approach to music. He's just in terrible taste. Furthermore, his solos have no shape. He's constantly grandstanding. I hear no real sincerity in his playing. And he's not the only saxophonist in Jazz history who's guilty of this. Earl Bostic was another incredibly gifted saxist (perhaps even more so than Parker) who had lousy taste and made an entire career out of grandstanding and show-boating. Illinois Jacquet did a shit-load of grandstanding but he could also play beautifully crafted solos. Roland Kirk as well.

It's hilarious how many "experts" are under the impression that someone gives a toss about their opinion about James Carter or any other musician or artist that is doing what they want to do. Those keystrokes could have better been used writing your own memoir. FOCUS.
