Citroen Xsara Picasso is generally a very reliable car. The only serious issue I have experien is rust in the panels, which is very common for cars that has recieved no rust treatment. The rusttreatmant that I had paid for was poorly executed, with absolutely no wax in the panels. The gasoline engine is very reliable and therefore long-lasting. Many reasons for that: No turbocharger - No timing belt INSIDE the engine - No direct fuel injection - No EGR valve. The car has a LOT of SPACE for passengers and luggage. For those reasons I will keep that car intill 2033 or longer.

My dad has a Picasso 1.8 115cv. I learned how to drive in thiscar, from that moment i never left the driver seat of this car. No problems, basic maintenace (optional). I love my french bad boy. 🇨🇱

I've just bought another. Great, reliable car and in Portugal we have no issues with rust.

I have a 1.6i 2001 with about 217k km of which I did 8k, and am very happy with the car so far. The engine requires periodical red lining to clear the carbon deposits or else it loses performance and increases consumption, but otherwise it is a brilliant, very tourqey for its size end economical, around 7L/100km.. The car is super comfortable and very quiet, very spacious, the rear seats are easily removable. The engine bay is spacious and accesible for diy maintenance. The only thing I really hate on this car is the double A pillar, it really obstructs the view in the left corners. The drivers seat foam got destroyed over the years and I couldnt find a new one so I replaced the whole seat with one from a Renault Laguna mk1. The headlights on the Xsara are absolutely brilliant for this type of lights. Only the newer cars with modern expensive headlight technology light up the road better.

They are remarkably reliable, probably because it's a design from the 90s, not the 21st century. Their worst feature by far is the behaviour in crosswinds on the motorway - it's appalling.
