0:51 I would feel far safer in Manchester City Centre and in Piccadilly Gardens if there was routinely and visibly armed police officers and soldiers on foot patrol at all times, along with police and army snipers with machine guns on rooftops - we are rapidly reaching a situation where all western governments, including the U.K. government, will have no other option but to do so, it’s sad but much-needed - I recently watched a video of trains in Pakistan with barbed wire and armed guards on trains and at stations and it did not even phase me, we sadly need exactly the same here, just 10 fold - I’m already hearing anecdotal stories of armed Gardai (police) patrolling Irish villages and towns, including my home village in Ireland and as heartbreaking as it is, it is sadly needed - gut instinct, I suspect that things are going to kick off big time here in Manchester and in the U.K. generally and it is going to get (very) ugly in the coming months, but only my native Ireland will be far worse

5:37 I wish they would have more direct trains to Holyhead on Avanti or TfW from platforms 1-10 at Piccadilly, not platforms 13 & 14 or better still from Victoria, as I hate changing at Chester, Crewe or Lladnuo Junction - drives me insane on SailRail when I’m getting the Irish Ferries Ulysses to Dublin and I’ve written to TfW and Network Rail about it - TfW already has loco-hauled first class from Cardiff to Holyhead via Chester and Lladnuo with much longer trains and it’s far more comfy, even Northern to Chester from Victoria and Piccadilly has longer and more comfy trains now - last time I went home in October 2022, I went Northern from Victoria to Chester and Avanti from Lladnuo to Holyhead to save time, as otherwise, I would have missed the ferry check-in time at Holyhead because of the train strikes - and I had to do the same in summer 2018 for my Dad’s funeral as well, as my home village in Ireland is 20 miles from Dublin
