St Louis is one of those iconic cities we've all heard about but many haven't visited. We got there early enough to catch the city coming alive with business and there was plenty of bustle. Unlike the previous 3 cities, this one seemed more urban some how. Perhaps it was the busier traffic or the ever present construction but there just seemed to be more functional than beautiful city. That's not to say it's not beautiful, because it is. It's just that it has a more lived in feel. And of course it has been, for centuries. The history of St. Louis as the jumping off point to the west stretches back centuries in a country with out too many centuries to its name. Hence, the Gateway Arch National Park, which offers its own statement on the city. We start down in the old town, make our way past the arch and then up past the courthouse and into downtown. The buildings stretch up into the sky and have a combination of old and new. It's a great town with a ton of things to do. Like many of the cities we visit on this road trip, I'd like to go back and spend more time there and share all the great things on offer. -H
