Thank you! Big part of my family moved from Dittel/Volga to Greeley, Windsor CO & Marion County in Kansas. We survived in Russia somehow and emigrate to Germany in 90th . Very interesting to see how Unser Leut (our people) start their life in USA !

My grandparents also came to Saskatchewan in 1912 for 5 years as indentured servants. They were Germans from Lviv area of Ukraine under the Russian Tsar.

Very interesting history of the German Russians of Greeley Colorado. I am a decendant of the Schaefer Brunner German Russians and found this to be fascinating. Thank you for posting this on KZfaq.

@marcaurel2333 thank you for your response...... My mother's family(Brunner) were from the Volga River area of Grimm, Russia. They immigrated in the early 1900s. I do believe my great Grandfather's name was Jacob Brunner.

The history of the Russian Germans is unusual, unique and very instructive. I described the beginning and the end in the book "To Russia to New Lands". I'm currently putting out the audio book on my channel. Please take a look, maybe you will find it interesting.

My grandfathers family came to the U.S. from the Volga region as well. I was a bit surprised that in this video the reason given for them leaving Russia was that there were too many Germans in the river region and they came to look for more land. I had never heard that before. It has always been related to changes in Russian policies that could have also been related to Hitler attacking Russia. Anyone know if that is a legitimate reason?

Yeah, this is something similar to what happened to Japanese after Japan attacked Pearl Harbour, so American Japanese suffered the consequences even though they weren’t involved.

Hitler didn't go after Russia until 1940. Your relatives probably left 40 years before that. Russian politics were biggest reasons for their immigration.
