Great to see you give that SX-64 the TLC it needed. I have to admit, I love SX-64s, but I’m not in love with repairing them because of how cramped and fiddly it is in there. I was laughing at your 9V/LED “trace tester”… Multimeters exist yaknow! Have a good one Deadline. :)

TY for the Commodore content and especially the SX-64 content. I have three SX-64s and had to repair all 3 of them (#1 RAM, #2 PLA & #3 SICK SID) and I didn't cut that trace when I had them open. Why is this needed to be done?

Commodore SX-64 soldered/connected pins 19 and 20 on the user port on that little daughter board in there at the factory. It could potentially damage equipment (both SX-64 & whatever device you are plugging into the user port) from that shorted 9v rail. If you never use your user port, it shouldn't be an issue. But if you do, you should severe that trace. And as you know, we love using the user ports on our machines.

Last question, when connect the 8 channel relay to c64 and poke 56579,255 all relays led go on, but when I poke 56577,0 none go off, is working like in reverse, if I poke 56577,128 all leds go off. Do you know why is this happening? In yours vide I saw the led only turn on when the relay connncts. Thanks.

We've found that It depends on what device you're using. Some are looking for up state, the others down state. In fact, I had to add a exclusive or to the routines in the RelayTracker program when people started using it with the VicREL and a toggle VicREL mode feature. In BASIC v2 for the C64 it will look like this: N=(X OR 255) AND NOT (X AND 255), where X is the value that you want XOR'd. N will be the XOR'd value of X. Put that in your line just before the Poke 56577,X... Hope that helps!

@@CityXen yes, just noticed that. The one I got will action in LOW. It looks like the RED boards have a jumper to setup if you want to trig at LOW or HIGH. Thanks!

Was wondering if you had seen the Fireworks Tutorial, because that is what the topic is in the video. I cover the relay board and BASIC programming. There's even a github software for it. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f7NypdJ3qtaqZ6c.html&ab_channel=CityXen It's the same thing, just put your own type of circuit on there besides the firework stuff. For instance, it could be LED lights.
