Its called Triangle trade because european traders sailed from europe to west africa to the americas and then home in a great triangle. For instance danish traders would start out with liquor in Copenhagen sail to west africa sell the liqour in exchange for involuntary african "workers" sail to the danish west indies sell the africans in exchange for sugar and sail home to Copenhagen. In Copenhagen the sugar is sold and turned into liqour. Rinse and repeat.

Counter-spying that commercial hub the entire time that siphon funds was unavailable is a real pro move.

The crabs all line up under water and raise their claws, swaying back and forth until their movement influences the hurricane to come towards you... you cannot stop the crabs.

This was like the slightly older games, before the deity mod, when you would purposely break the game. Very enjoyable. (spies do work btw, patience is key...)

In todays episode, we continue the story of how Mansa Musa became the wealthiest dude to ever live. The sandstorm is initially a lot less damaging than feared, then Mali builds the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus after working on it for centuries. Ursa realizes that Mali has gained three techs on Yongle, rejoice! Only seventeen more to go. Mali continues to settle city after city, and buying very expensive settlers all the while. Mali discovers toys, recruits Liang before sending her out to sea, and decides to go towards democracy. Samarkand is discovered in the far southern reaches of the world, but Mali still has not found the last civilization. After a cheeky forward settle by Mali, a small reminder, Mexico City plus a Water Park equals a very happy empire. Mali meets Mohenjo Daro and Hong Kong and a hurricane spawns in a very awkward place setting giant crabs free, uh-oh, Crustus will rise again! Samarkand becomes Suzerained by Mansa Musa, allowing for the building of Trading Domes, and we learn that Mali now produces more culture than anyone else they've met. The hurricane that was summoned by the crabs to free Crustus has settled right on a city center, and Gao build Ruhr Valley. A trade route is established with Portugal, and Adam Smith is recruited. Ursa remembers Vatican City this time, and sends the Merchant to the border. Strangely, Mali becomes the first to circumnavigate the world, not Carthage, weird. Mali proceeds to build a city in a frozen wasteland, no, not Alaska which is a lovely place. A second sandstorm hits Gao's zoo, hopefully the animals are ok, and Mali finishes their religion. Yongle has discovered satellites, and the sandstorm destroys even more infrastructure, taking out several suguba's in short succession. An Ironclad is bought from a Barbarian Camp, and Kumasi still has not been found, if it even exists. Stock Exchanges starts getting built, as are railroads to increase the value of Malian traderoutes. The Mali Intercity Railway Company finishes their first line, and Colossus gets built. All of Mali's alliances expire, and get renewed in short order, then England denounces Mali because the trade route to them expired. Chinguetti gets discovered, unfortunately it is quite protected, Mali at this time also earns over 4000 gold each turn. Uluru gets discovered, together with the Ottoman Empire, and with that Mali has met every other Civilization. Kumasi gets discovered and is a lot less protected than Chinguetti, and we learn that Yongle is rushing ahead in tech. Sanitation is discovered, up until this point, things were pretty grimy. Four sewers get built rapidly, boosting Suffrage. Mali becomes a democracy, and Machavellianism goes into the government, time to spy on Yongle. Sarah Breedlove get recruited, opening up a potential culture win, and Ursa forgets that Mali is suzerain of Vatican City, again. Gao removes a Cahokia Mound and starts to build the University of Sankore, just as Lord Sucklington wanted. Professional Sports are discovered by Mali, and with a stadium and an aquatics center, their cities become ecstatic. After a massive spending spree, Mali's coffers are down to only 68 gold, but they earn just over 6000 gold per turn, so they'll be fine. The Fountain of Youth gets found, earning Mali a relic, then the University of Sankore gets finished in Gao. Gao then begins building Estadio, just to absolutely make sure that Mali remains ecstatic for the rest of the game. Bridonna finally gets upgraded to a Crossbow, having been an archer for almost 2000 years. Gao alone provides around half of Mali's gold income, which is a lot. Mali continues barrelling into golden age after golden age, quickly recruiting two great people, and selecting To Arms! Hungary should start to feel a bit nervous now. Mali builds the worlds first National Park, and another world congress is called. The World's Fair begins. Estadio gets built, boosting Malian culture to new heights. Containment is then put in, and Kumasi gets Suzerained, for even more culture. Tesla gets bought, and Mali's spy in China attempts to steal lasers, and the Ottoman's capture Kumasi, darn it. Two more engineers are recruited with Money, and Mali votes for two City State emergencies, one against the Ottomans, and one against Portugal, but both get shot down by Yongle. An other great merchant gets recruited, which means more tourism, and Goddard gets recruited as well. An Airport gets built on the borders of Hungary, and a few bombers shortly afterwards. Chinguetti gets suzerained, and Mali's faith hits almost 1800 per turn, which is a lot. Mali discovers computers, now they can finally calculate Mansa Musa's net worth, and a lot of flood barriers get prayed in. Ursa then realizes that when Mali declares war on Hungary, a lot of their own trade routes are going to get pillaged. As we are gearing up for the end game, some questions linger. Will Ursa manage to snatch a win from the jaws of defeat? Will Yongle into Alpha Centauri? Is Suleiman a bit of a dongle? Turn in next episode, same Ursa time, same Ursa channel!

Have you tried out the City Lights mod? It’s almost a completely different game and I get how it might not be ideal for content, but I still recommend checking it out. If you use it, I’d play on a huge map and start with one of the civs with more unique benefits like China or Japan, and combine it with the Cyp Wide & Tall mod - they pair really well together if you use the puppet government project.

I felt a bit disappointed with the placement of N'Teret at 6:07. The settler could have been moved southwest 1 tile to get 1 less loyalty pressure against it AND form a meaningless canal through the island. Confidently discounting loyalty pressure concerns is something that I expect and endorse, but I also expect actively seeking out pointless canals with a much higher priority.

Ursa, I am here to issue you a challenge. Because you hate spies so much, I would like you to try to win a science victory with Wu Zeitan with zero campuses. I was able to do it with *one* campus in my empire without too much trouble with Owls of Minerva, although I was also using the JNR mods that add extra buildings to all of your districts. I suspect that a pro Civ player with a great start could do it with zero campuses and without the mods. I want you to appreciate spies.
