"...and the journalists are caught in the middle of it.", more like the journalists voluntarily placed themselves in harms way.

yeah fair. in all honesty this movie overplays just how involved journalists are in a real war. i still like it tho

Yes, I noticed the whole rounds too, but in fact I have a whole thing with the entire "final showdown". It's riddled with inconsistencies, like it was rushed in the writing department and on set. First of all I don't understand why the main character was always the one at the front of everything and then she's shown at the edge of being fullblown hysterical at the white house entrance... followed by her, once again, getting the resolve to adventure further inside just on a "seasoned correspondant" hunch without fear or caution. And what was the point of the secret service using a red herring escaping on the beast? Is not like they were gonna forget the white house and run after it.. I mean, they would search the premises anyway. And then the protagonist dies of shot to the back, despite wearing a vest (maybe the caliber of the gun was bigger, I don't know, not a gun enthusiast), just for heroics and to honor a prior scene where she asks the younger kid if she would take a picture of her dead (or dying, I don't remember and won't watch again). Ok, I'm out.

I love The Village. I went into it knowing it was a M Night movie though, haha. Civil War was a dud, forsure. The movie in itself was okay, but the marketing hyped it up to be a different type of movie and that's what I was waiting to see. The wait continues for a good new war movie.

yeah, I'm hoping for something more akin to spec ops: the line. I want something with good action and competent characters, that isn't afraid to ask tough questions about morality.

"the line between empathy and apathy" so you're telling me the movie is even gayer than the title implies.
