I was born and raised in the south but had never heard this southern version of this very popular tune until these very talented young musicians gave this rendition at a Civil War reenactment in Houston, Missouri in the fall of 2010. The Yankees are trying to win by controlling the media. But it is still to early to tell.

Philip Nightingale Philip, Thanks for watching. I did these film to help promote a book my father wrote about the Civil War in Arkansas and Missouri. The timing was perfect, just before the 150th anniversary. I even did a reenactment in my home town that was a big success. Close to half a million people have enjoyed my videos and for that I am happy. But these like the war are history now. There will be no more. But again thank you for watching.

Mark Mobley Then you have enriched in some small way the lives of half a million people. Please feel free to share the title of your father's book, I've had a fascination for the war in Missouri ever since I saw the movie "Ride with the Devil". I'm English by birth but blessed to live in The South however I'm still catching up having not grown up immersed in the culture of The Land of Cotton.

that is a great version of the tune. I had a distant realative who fought for the south in a german regiment ( since he was from austria-hungary- Bohemia) he lost everything when the south lost in 1865, so he went home, sadly the next year he got caught up in the biggest battle of that century in Konnigratz /Sadowa( around Hradec Kralovy today) in 1866 and was killed, but had many kids before then thankfully

Chorus: Our Dixie forever, she’s never at a loss Down with the eagle and up with the cross. We’ll rally ‘round the bonny flag, we’ll rally once again Shout, shout the battle cry of Freedom. 2. @@ukrainiansniper5916 I am not a big fan of the Confederacy but comparing them with UPA is like spitting on their faces. Those freedom fighters from UPA slaughtered thousands of innocent women and children and were firsts to hunt and kill Jews hiding from nazis.

@ukrainiansniper5916 2 жыл бұрын
@@karolpankhurst7337 of course if you believe the Soviet oriented accounts of what the UPA was you will make outlandish claims. The wonderful USSR ensured that Jews escaping Nazi occupied Poland into Soviet occupied were returned to GERMAN occupied Poland. UPA units actually blew up tracks of trains headed for Auschwitz. And the UPA actually helped the Ukrainian Catholic Church hide Jewish children in monasteries and seminaries. Now as for massacres there were those on both sides the "galant" Armiya Krajowa burned and massacred Ukrainian villages in Halych because they believed Halych belong to Poland, and the Polish People's Army (communists) on orders from the NKVD eradicated whole towns if they supported the UPA. You have no moral high ground....so shut the f--k up!!!!

And yes I did know Marines who were in the Marine Barracks in Beriute & who went to Greaneda. Every service member "fights" not for King & country, but for the guy next to him [on all sides in formation] who they train with, drink beer with, spend countless hours doin work that would bore you to tears. But before you critize anyone who has given themselves up to serve something greater than themselves, may I suggest you hump a mile in their boots. I have to admit it, Native Americans were robbed, pilaged, raped and lied to by both the north and south as one "The United Stated of America" and Mr Lincoln was one of the worst offenders, he ordered the public mass hanging of 26 Native Americans all at the same time on 26 scaffolds to show his power, and his generals were just as ruthless. 👍🏻 As a Yankee I suppose I should be offended? However, how could I possibly be offended?! Number one, that pretty young girl singing for HER SOUTH, her much loved South actually brought tears to my eyes; such beautiful patriotism! I've never seen another Yankee sing with such love for our Union. Also, I have always felt that the South, together or as independent States had, and HAVE the LEGAL RIGHT to secede from the Union. In fact many of the Southern States made it clear in their written agreement with the Federal Government when they joined the Union that they would have the right to leave for any reason whatsoever. 👍🏻

@Matthew Purdy There's no future in this degenerate mess of a country. Keeping America alive means keeping the leftist idea of "diversity" alive, the leftist idea of "justice" alive, the leftist idea of everything alive. America is in a coma and on its deathbed. Time to put a bullet in it and create something new, hopefully conquer the remnants of this degenerate garbage. Even if Trump somehow manages to win, it's not enough. The popular vote went for the commies, as it has for decades. This country is unworthy of life.

Don't waste your time, effort, blood or treasure to support this worthless, dying thing. Join your comrades in making a real, isolationist, nationalist, individualist society. Leave the sinking ship and help keep the new ship afloat.

vanchi I wish it were that simple but I don't believe it is. Slavery was on its way out in western culture outlawed by British courts just before the Revolution Though we were forced to take the slaves from British traders. South Carolina tried to outlaw slavery very early on. I believe the CW was an extension of the English Civil War with the estate owners against Puritan city traders and bankers. The losers moved to the south and the winners to the north and we continued the fight.

civilwarhalftruths I think the civil war had a lot to do with the unhappiness of the representation in congress. The south had less votes than the north. So they lost in matters related to slavery, but they lost in all other votes as well. So they were unhappy with that. I think there were other unfair taxes and such but I cant remember the specifics its been a while since I researched the topic.
