During the second world war, after an accidental strike on London by German bombers (Originally targeting airfields) and a retaliatory strike on Berlin, British cities were bombed heavily by the German Luftwaffe. After American support began flowing into Britain, and bombing raids on Germany became viable, the British bomber command (Motto: Strike hard, Strike sure) Began prosecuting huge raids alongside the USAF on German cities like Hamburg, Cologne and Berlin. The most infamous of these was the bombing of Dresden, which killed tens of thousands of civilians.

To those who don't like this song because it glorifies the brutal strategic bombings by the allies: If you pay close attention to the lyrics it seems more like its from the perspective of a pilot trying to justify to himself that what he is doing is right. "But what is right, and what is wrong, what the hell is going on? Obeying orders, that's what we do!"

To be fair, their whole point of this song is that it was brutal, but effective. Much like the other single in this album, savannah, this song is about committing horrible acts to stop equally horrible acts. Of course, most of the bombers pilots had no idea about the Holocaust (the British denied the Wiltold report until they stumbled upon concentration camps) and many Union soldiers were racist and had no problem with slavery,but their actions are still noble for stopping a great evil. One must question if it’s worth it for “peace we kill as much as we can”, but as bomber Harris said himself, “those who have sown the wind, shall reap the whirlwind.”

If only these criticisms did not come mostly from subversives whom want to tear down our nations, it would perhaps be better heard. It's not though, who can only see the sin, and not also the virtue that the allies brought to this terrible war. The Allies (minus the Soviets) have the net moral high ground and virtue. Can't claim to be a big fan of Civil War, but they have a definite sound to them that is supreme at times. Especially the rapid fire parts they have, like at 0:30 to 0:34. I can't say what it is exactly, but it's moving.

@@snipercz1 Google Operation Osoaviakhim... A Program twice as large in size as Paperclip. The Soviets recuited German scientists just as much as everyone else - but beyond that they also took people further down the ladder.

If you pay attention to the mass bombing part at 42 Seconds into the song it is definitely WW2 cuz the Germans had a bombing campaign in Great Britain
