Civilian hero risks life to save cop fighting suspect resisting arrest in Cincinnati - TomoNews

9 жыл бұрынCINCINNATI, OHIO - A brave civilian helped a Cincinnati cop who called for help subdue a suspect who was going for his gun, possibly helping prevent another tragic police shooting.
The incident happened on July 30, the same day former University of Cincinnati police officer Ray Tensing was charged with the July 19 shooting death of Sam Dubose in a separate traffic stop.
The civilian, identified as Edward Williams, was driving with his ex-girlfriend and her daughter when he saw the cop struggling with the unyielding suspect.
William's ex-girlfriend tried to talk him out of helping because she was afraid he would get hurt. But Williams handed her his tablet PC so she could continue recording while he got out of his car and went to help.
The cop asked Williams to hand him his handcuffs, while the suspect called out to Williams, saying that the cop had tried to choke him to death. The cop warned that the suspect was trying to reach for his gun.
Backup later arrived and the suspect was escorted to a police car. The suspect thanked Williams, while the cops told him to remain silent. No details about the arrest are currently available. However, it's clear from the video that Williams may have saved two lives that day.

But these cops get off on killing people, because it's a privilege no one else legally has. Like "wha- OH! It’s always best to ask before you help, even if they ask. If you get involved at the wrong time you could do more harm then help.

Sometimes, especially now a days, an Officer may not know if you are good guy or not. always ask . There were sirens. what could happen if you join the struggle with out, just as other officers are arriving? The words - need help? - take a 1/2 second or less. He says yes jump in. Others arrive you stop! Hind sight on a video is always 20/20.

On the contrary, immediately after the Civil War, slave patrolmen were recommissioned as a "police" force to capture innocent freemen (including preteens) to put them to work on chain gangs all over the South. Cops today even wear the same six-pointed star as their badge that the slave patrol wore before there was even such a thing as the the "police". Google "patty rollers" if you don't believe me. I will not bother dignifying the comment about whites not ruling the United States with a response. It's funny how the second the suspect saw the camera he saw that as an opportunity to get publicity or try to show what everyone calls police brutality. First he was resisting arrest then the camera came and he all of a sudden said he wasn't doing anything and tried to make it look as if the cop was using excessive force on him. Smh

Yea he was. For one they wouldn't be on the ground if he wasn't resisting. Why would you tell him to not kill you but continue to resist. By resisting, you increase the odds of the officer resorting to violence. It is further evident there was s struggle because the cuffs were on the FLOOR. Now why would it be on the floor? It would be on the cop's belt. So when the cop took out his cuffs, there was a struggle or else he wouldn't of dropped the cuffs either. And he doesn't ask for help until the person with a camera comes out. Likely it was then when the camera becomes visible to him. If he really was being injured, he could and should of called for help much earlier. But he didn't because by having people intervene, he will be arrested after the situation is under control. Furthermore if the cop intended to kill he wouldn't of called for help. All this poitns to him resisting arrest and if he was shot, then there was no one to blame but himself.

The officer did say the guy he was trying to cuff reached for his gun, what would have happened if the guy got loose? If he managed to get a hold of the weapon? Sure, nothing bad happened, because the guy helped. You're looking at the definite of what happened, and not really considering the 'what if' that was avoided.

@Silver Pie, His life was indeed at risk, because the responding backup officers may have assumed he was a threat to the officer already in the altercation and possibly use force or even deadly force to protect their fellow officer before they understood what was going on. So yes, by assisting he was putting his life in danger.

Mind if I pipe in. The oshp are not commonly known for carrying tazers. Personally I wouldn't either because it is a 2nd gun and I wouldn't want to pull the wrong gun. Laying the gun on the sidewalk is a big NO. All it takes is one guy to get the gun and keep and/or kill the officer.

I love when people jump the gun and call him innocent when they haven't done their research to find that he was convicted of murdering his girlfriend. And then proceed to say he wasn't resisting arrest because his hands were behind his back, but he has muscles all over his body people, he can squirm his ass out of the cop ls grip so that resisting arrest. And he even reached for his gun in the video while saying, "I didn't go for his gun"

He appeared nervous and un-sure of himself... but I do believe, had the officer asked him to help hands on, he probably would have S-L-O-W-L-Y grabbed a hand or foot to help out.. ...LOL...lol

they aren't. police arrest ending up with a the guy killed happen about 1 times in 10 000. It's like saying apples are dangerous because once in a while, people choke on them after taking a bite. Just like apple, if you try to swallow the whole thing in one bite, you have a higher risk of dying. If you resist arrest or worse, try to grab the gun of the cop, you increase the risk of being killed.

You can see he is a good officer since he didn't step on the suspect neck but hugged him to the ground even though the suspect clearly tried to go for the gun, the officer was calm and collective and ddin't hurt the suspect more than needed for an arrest, he didn't even touched the suspect neck. the cop also trusted William, a brave african american, and give the guy his gun so the suspect wouldn't touch it and shoot anyone. the officar that killed Floyd could learn a lot about how to treat humans from this kind cop, if he did, Floyd would probobly still be here.
