I am German and I never heard this joke, but it's what we would call an "Anti-joke". It's funny to some people because you are subverting the expectation, that something witty and funny will follow. They are mostly used to get a stern look from everyone, with some people threatening to leave or git you in the mouth, to lighten the mood. Kind of like really dumb plays on words.

4:32 Germany, Poland and probably every country in Europe: You need to show government issued identification card with your picture following extremely strict criteria to enter to a club, buy alcohol, cigarettes e.t.c. United States of America: Requiring to show your ID during the most important decision that citizen makes every few years is clearly a voting suppression. xD
@robertford1298
@robertford1298 Жыл бұрын
Yep
@keikekaze
@keikekaze Жыл бұрын
Nope. Requiring ID at the voting booth in the United States *IS* a voter-suppression tactic, because the US government, unlike European governments, does *NOT* automatically issue a picture ID to all citizens. You only get a government-supplied picture ID card if you get a driver's license or a passport, and both of those things cost money. Not everyone can afford the cost (or even needs a driver's license or a passport). So requiring the picture ID to vote (in the states that do that) is a means of screening out people who don't have money--and it's quite deliberate, and that's the reason it's done. In the states that don't require a picture ID to vote (which includes all the enlightened states, including mine), you have already signed the voter rolls when you registered, and all you do when you go to vote is sign in again at the polls. If you're legitimate, your signature at the polls will match your signature on the voter rolls. No muss, no fuss, no mess, no bother, and no photo ID necessary.
@Hadar1991
@Hadar1991 Жыл бұрын
@@keikekaze To be honest I had to pay for my ID (firstly for the proper photo and secondly a fee in the office even though it is mandatory to have valid ID). Besides without proper ID how you verify if a dude who came to the poll is the person he says he is without proper ID
@keikekaze
@keikekaze Жыл бұрын
@@Hadar1991 As I suggested above, you verify the person's authenticity by his or her signature. No picture ID is necessary. And besides, "voter fraud," in the sense of somebody pretending to be somebody else when going to vote, is so extremely rare as to be essentially nonexistent. (It may happen about once--one individual person, nationwide--per election cycle.) The picture ID requirements, in the states that have them, are a "solution" to a problem that does not exist.
@hugoguerreiro1078
@hugoguerreiro1078 Жыл бұрын
@@keikekaze signature verification is awful. You'd take a long time to verify a single signature in order to do it properly, and if you want to do it as fast as verifying if a face matches a picture you'd have to do a very sloppy job. There is a reason European countries use picture ID and not just signatures, even though they also keep records of signatures. Btw, even if you get issued an ID card by the government, you still have to pay for it, at least in my country. You also have to renew it regularly so your picture and signature, fingerprints, etc get updated, since they can change with time, and you pay for it every time. It's not considered voter suppression because anyone can afford it. We take election security and speed very seriously, and every time the process is very clean and votes are counted in only a couple of hours and not days. Looking at US elections from the outside makes them look like a joke and the process seems very archaic, confusing, and some things are just baffling. I'd also like to point out voter fraud is very hard to catch, depending on the circumstances. If someone forges a signature with care you're not going to find out unless you have a forensics expert going through every single signature, taking multiple hours for each, which is never gonna happen. And you also have many cases of the opposite happening, where people's handwritting changes but since their official signature didn't get updated the vote is invalidated. It's far easier to deal with these issues before the ballots are cast than to try and find errors after the fact, and using pictures rather than signatures makes this a lot more simple. In other words, maybe a voting system as old as the US's needs an overhaul.

@@pretendtheresaname9213 37°C em abril não é comum, normalmente Abril é conhecido como o mês da chuva. Os verões depende, às vezes estão 30°C e às vezes tá 40°C

In french probably the worst thing in our language is the "Passé Composé" there are so many rules to follow on how to accord it. It's so difficult I'm pretty sure that like 90% of french people don't accord their "participe passé" correctly despite the fact that we use the "Passé Composé" very often.(idk if accord is the right word but it sounds similar to the word used in french)

I think if a foreign learner masters everything but the participe passé, he will be fine, especially considering how many mistakes the French make on this one
