Respect to Ruslan, he spoke from the heart, very objective and touched upon so many points that Armenians need to comprehend. But, a military analysis about the second NK war without mentioning the radar horizon problem and lack of air defence integration is not complete. A discussion about the 64N6 radars integration with the S300PS in Syunik and with the 36D6 radars in NK and if the 36D6 radars were integrated with the smaller autnomous systems closer to the front line is vital to get to the bottom of. Why wasn't the mobile S300PS in Syunik brought under the cover of the 3 S300PT's near Yerevan at the onset of the war when it was clearly a target without a clear view? Was this lack of knowledge or lack of preperation over 30 years? There was enough coverage for an overlapping array of protection to cover NK. Most importantly, if we bought the SU-30 to relieve the radar horizon problem even without missiles why wasn't it used for early warning why wasn't this basic capability of communicating with frontline air defence assets set up? Then there is the GPS issue and I think he covered this by saying to purchase what is important and not what looks good. So many unanswered questions which I know the answers to but curious why it wasn't brought up. Either way a lot to learn from a non Armenian who gave it to us bluntly.

I just had a conversation with my wife about how the military system in Armenia is a waste of potential. Forcing kids without proper military education to fight in the front is dumb. They will get traumatized and now want to fight. We need reforms! 1 year basic training, after that you can choose to follow a carrier or not. If you do you get a proper income, tax free, health insurance, retirement,…. The higher your education, the higher the income and the retirement. A professional solder is the way to go. Perfect education, and maximum efficiency for the equipment.

Those 18 years old kids were fighting and dying like there was no tomorrow. The problem was, they were not given a chance to win and/or survive. That chance would have been given to them by the defensive cement lines, if only our “leaders”, these corrupt insects, kochik and serjik, generals, judges, ministers etc would have decided to build them over the last twenty years, instead of buying islands in Greece, hunting in Africa, loosing in a German casino or letting their scumbag kids enjoying billionaire lifestyle in private elevators...

It is hard to understand how totally unprepared Armenia was for this conflict. The other side made no secret of its plans. Armenian leadership and institutions enriched themselves at the expense of the country, driving many into emigration. In emigration, Armenians worked for companies and paid taxes to governments that supplied weapons to Armenia’s adversaries. What goes around comes around.

The concluding "themepark" remark is quite correct but to be fair its not like people havent tried to do business with and in Armenia. Niether Russia nor Turkey want a strong Armenia and they will do what it takes to keep her weak regardless of what the Armenian people do. This is why Iran must be Armenias primary ally because it is interested in having a strong Armenia as its neighbor. Finding strong allies that share your interests is the key here. The world is much bigger than just Russia and USA and that is becoming truer every day. Armenia should look for powerful regional allies rather then pinning hopes on have been super powers particularly one that has no interests in the region.

Switzerland is a good historical example and the gold standard for where a country with Armenia’s geopolitical misfortunes can hope to be. It’s a landlocked population with a small population surrounded by historically powerful, hostile and competing powers. Switzerland didn’t remain neutral through 200 years of European wars because the great powers decided it should be neutral. It stayed brutal because they made themselves uninvadable. And their strategy for being uninvadable was to make it so incredibly costly to invade and hold Switzerland, that no one would ever try.
