People don't seem to realize how strong Escanor is compared to the other Sins. They have to use their holy weapons to get stronger. The Commandment of Estarosa had effect only on those who hated him or were angry on him. And Escanor did not overpower it - he was simply unaffected. Because he didn't feel anything but pity to a guy matched up with him.

The best part when Escanor said he is the pinnacle above demons and humans. He said it while near Galan which keep in mind, it's a curse that you have to speak the truth or your going to be turned into stone. Escanor was so real about his statement that he knows he is the pinnacle.

Fun fact: I’m pretty sure in the manga, it’s said the Seven Deadly Sin’s tattoos weren’t actually made from ink, but rather were carved into their skin, which means Escanor casually went in there and got the largest tattoo out of all of them by a decent margin just to flex (Diane’s tattoo was close but I don’t count her due to relative size difference)

As good as it was in the anime (eng dub) it was even better in the manga. The anime didn't quite capture what happened with Escanor in that moment. The normal pride and arrogance he normally talks with amplified so highly this man started speaking in Old English using "thee" and "whom" and shit. "I will be the one who decides... die." - Escanor, eng dub "I am the only one who decides such things..... Begone." - Escanor, manga. Estarossa also remarks about the way he speaks changing suddenly in the manga. Shit was chilling to read as he just erased Estarossa and we had to wait a long time to find out he survived. lol

The man's power is literally a "Nah, I'm stronger" it's just over the top to the point it should be bullsh*t, but his character is so well done it comes off as pure art. At no point does this guy think, "I'm gonna lose this, or maybe I can't beat this" He just beats the sh*t out of anyone just because he's that damn prideful and strong it's ridiculous. More so than any other sin in the show, he embodies his sin to an absolute T. The other sins do match their sins well enough, it's just that Escanor is pride, his very being is pride.

*Spoilers for those who aren't up to speed with Seven Deadly Sins/also this video mentioned the spoiler that I mentioned as well but I'm warning those who don't care and wanna get on me for commenting* The most beautiful moment to me was when Escanor faced the Demon King knowing he'd die and stood in his own flames like a boss while burning away. That was the most badass death for a man like Escanor, and to be kissed by the woman who he's pinned for since day one while dying? Immaculate!

You know, Escanor is not just the embodiment of Pride, but he is also humanity’s Pride, whenever he defeat a deamon or a god, he always goes ”how does it feal, to get beaten by a human ?” his pride have absolute no limit, compared to others sins. He be the weakest, but also the strongest. And his backstory is tragic, he was left for dead but the gods decided to give him a chance and give him the power of the literaly god of the sun. All the other characters are princes or gods (and one immortal) but he is just an abandonned prince nobody from an unknown kingdom

After he was introduced, you just got hooked from purely wanting to watch him go to work and hearing the famous line "Who decided that?"

They even show their first fight and Mel one-shots him. Meaning meliodas is stronger than The One he just let his guard down this fight Zeldris explains Meliodas has a bad habit of toying with weaker people.

I nominate Asura from Asura's Wrath. Anyway, Escanor was legit the sole reason I didn't drop the manga about halfway through. Putting up with the filler was always worth it once it got back to the man that always had the best lines. "Why would I hate someone weaker than me, all I feel is pity", goddamn.

Gonna be honest, Escanor is the reason I watched the show, and he was pretty much one of the only main characters I genuinely enjoyed watching. His sacrifice could have been great, but in my opinion the execution was kinda sloppy. I mean, he died in a fight that had absolutely no stakes since Mel was already stronger than DK at this point, and then he just sorta dies and no one really cared after it happened. Just my opinion, though. Wow, didn't expect this many people to care about my mini-rant. Thanks to everyone who took the time to read my thesis on Escanor.
