After dominating the charts with mega-hits like ‘5, 6, 7, 8’ and ‘Deeper Shades of Blue’ as part of pop supergroup Steps - Claire Richards is now going it alone. She joins us in the studio today as she releases her second solo album. But does her new-found solo success mean the end for Steps? Claire will be revealing all.

Claire is a friend of a friend. She is a really good person with a kind heart and charming self doubt. Funny too! She is a power house vocally and one of the true authentic “pop” sounding voices still going strong even after many years.

There really aren’t many 90s bands who are still smashing it. Since they’ve come back they’ve had so many number 1 & 2 albums, sell out arena tours, headlining spots and have amazing careers on their own. Steps are true a powerhouse. I know they won’t do Eurovision but imagine if they did. Well done Claire for the album (number 1 on iTunes for 3 days) and is looking to chart strong on Friday. Good luck Lisa who rereleases her 00s album in a couple of week.

I've listened to Claires solo stuff from this year and it's fine. It's not great. I think she would have done better if she did take notes from the rest of Steps. It's not bad, don't get me wrong, but something is missing. And it's not necessarily the others...but there is an element that's missing.

Steps are having a break .. we knew that .. they'll be back.. Claire and Lisa have both said the same. They all do their own things anyway..they never tour all of the time and can't be releasing new songs every week.
