I lost count on how many times Clark was about to tell her his secret and she is disappointed when he chooses not to tell her. But at this point I was fed up with it and wanted Lana to either leave town or just die. Clark needs to move on.

They should’ve just done their own thing, their own universe. They casted them too well and they didn’t know how to break their chemistry. Lois didn’t help at all. In the end they did their own thing anyways having him give up his powers and live a normal life with Lois. This is all horrendous writing to me and I wonder Had they known they’d do this if they would’ve scrapped the idea of him ever leaving Lana to begin with. 10 seasons to get him to almost wear the suit, to then find out he gave it up to be with the person he had the least chemistry with.

@@KILLAKINGD0M I think he gave up his powers because he couldn't have fulfillment after lose so many beautiful and important things, specially Lana. Then he got the only thing left and he always wanted: he fully embraced his humanity. But I have no doubt Lana owns the heart of Clark in Smallville, maybe even in other universes from multiverse.

I literally was sick for the rest of the day after the watching this episode, it brought about the same feelings I had when I was in relationship with a Narcissist, who would make me happy one minute, but then the next minute would be hating me. This episode just triggered me very badly. I was like literally sick to my stomach and depressed for the rest of day.

@@alanmckeon8321 Smallville didn’t follow the comics. It’s was pretty much it’s own thing. Heck, the executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have admitted they never read a single comic book in their lives. So no. Smallville by and large was their creation.

Rule 1 for TV writers - never give the audience what they want to happen, because they will stop watching.

No, only reason Clark and Lana was on and off for 7+ seasons was because THE WRITERS WANTED IT THAT WAY. So they created vague reasons and situations over and over again to keep the two of them from being together, even though it didnt make any sense considering not only the attraction but also a clearly deep love they had for each other. So the only thing that lacks any real depth is your reasoning here. They were interesting enough characters, certainly not less than Clark and Lois in final seasons. And yes, many fans found Lana to be annoying (although reasons for that are very often almost adorably stupid), but many fans also loved these two together and it certainly wasnt just because they were "two beautiful looking people who are just attracted to each other".

@@Ryan_Wayne CLEARLY THE WRITERS WANTED IT THAT WAY AND IT SHOWED! It doesn’t change the fact that it dragged for too long because they wanted to keep Lana relevant. There were also many fans that wanted to see Clark MOVE ON WITH HIS LIFE and DO OTHER THINGS because Lana was the one that was really holding him back. It wasn’t until she left the show is when Clark was finally able to do so. Clark and Lana was already old news by season 4 yet the writers were just way too stubborn on them being together and it’s the reason ratings started going down.

@@anthonyanguiano5348 I think they dragged it for too long because they kind of screw themselves with making Lana too relevant. You mention ratings, but those went down much significantly after Lana left the show, not before. And I certainly disagree with that "holding him back" myth, only thing that held him back was his own head. Writers could make them work and move on together after he finally manned up and told her his secret and after she got over her revenge fixation on Lex after season seven (she was much more mature person in season eight and they were finally completely on the same page before the cryptonite suit broke them apart again) and it would made much more sense than his quick turn to Lois in final two seasons. But they had to follow Superman's canon, so thats it. Unfortunately it doesnt make much sense considering all what happened throughout the entire show.
