Thanks so much for showing the harvest. With difficult times ahead of us in this nation, starting in fall of 2023, we better all get as much seed as possible and get to practicing our gardening and harvesting our own seed. You're going to need all you can get.

I bet the seed you saved will get better and better because they are adapted to your climate now. In successive years you can even start to selectively save seed from the plants you want, wether it is larger tubers, earlier, disease resistant, etc. Or you could even cross with other varieties and try a landrace project for your area. The possibilities are endless 😊

One of the best TPS progression videos I have seen! Your harvest was awesome! I finally got potato berries last summer, started them Dec 30th and now have 16 seedlings! Pretty excited. I am tracking my progress as well. Will be a true mystery what the variety will be. Mother was a Yukon Gold. Other potatoes I grew nearby were Russian Banana, French Fingerling and Red Gold.

Hi there! I live in the Neatherlands. Great harvest indeed. Something you should know is that there is a good reason to grow from seeds. When you are planting tubers year after year, the chance of disease grows rapidly. The potatoes you harvested are meant for next year's seading potatoes for like risk free, disease free growing/harvesting for about 3 years. These are first generation grown from true seeds, they Wil result in larger harvest then otherwise. Take it from me, here in the Netherlands we know all about crop failures due to potato disease.

I just picked some of the potato seed pods (Green) [Poisonous to eat] and wrapped the rest right on the plant so they can mature and fall off. Very first time doing this so thank you very much. I never noticed the seed packets in the store. I will just plant alot of my own. I may buy some packs of seeds to have in an emergency. Thank you.

I harvested berries two years ago on Yukon gold plants. Last year, i tried to start some and kept 1 tps plant alive in a grow bag for the whole season. The plant was very small, far from the size of a standard potato plant but it looked pretty healty. I ended up getting a big 4 ounces divided in 12 small to very tiny lumpers. I have 8 small tubers germinating in a brown bag ready for the next season. I never thought you could grow tps that big, thanks for the video mate.

So cool! I've never grown potatoes from seed or seen berries on my potato plants. I'm not sure if that due to negligence or the variety of potato. Thank you for filming and sharing your experience with us!

Very cool! I am going to try and grow these. I just purchased seeds and wondered about them. I've harvested ones from a planted store bought potato and grew some funny potatoes. I Don't like that they are pelleted, I have bad luck with them germinating. 😅. I read that potatoes germinate better when they have warm days and cold nights or a difference in the temps every 12 hours. I am going to try and keep the trays outside and then bring them inside at night to cool off. I'm in Florida, I don't think I can grow them in the summer, but I want to start them around August to grow this fall.

Very cool! I tried growing the Clancy seeds a couple years ago, but I had a horrible time getting any of them to germinate and then actually grow.

A little research tells me that every plant grown from true potato seed is genetically unique and will produce tubers with characteristics different from the parent. Every potato plant grown from seed is a NEW VARIETY! I think it would be interesting to do an experiment: grow out some potato seeds alongside planting some of the smallest potatoes from your harvest and compare your yields. 😊

It'll be really interesting to see how the fruit seeds turn out.

Is there a relationship between when the flowers form and when the spuds in the roots form? With normal vegetable plants the flowers become the fruit... but with root vegeetables... its a bit confusing to think about since the root can't flower.

Clancy is an indeterminate potato you can keep letting it continue to grow until the plant dies back. The rough skin is scab add sulfur or pest moss to your potting mix to lower the PH

Turns out I am too lazy to read down in the comments to see if anyone ever answered but that looks like it might be scab on your 3rd pot unsightly but not harmful its caused by a bacteria in the soil and is usually a lot more prevalent in alkaline soils.

well I didnt buy clancy seeds but I do have potato berries in my garden this year and I have every intention of planting them come spring to see what I get. Sadly no growing year round here in minnesota. But I have some red potatoes that I bought from the store and planted not sure what variety they are but I think they are red norland with potato berries and I have Dakota Pearl with potato berries. excited to see what I get from those next fall. Interestingly the Kennebec potatoes did not set berries though they bloomed a lot, possibly sterile.

Is there a difference when to harvest between TPS plants and seed potatoes? Seed potatoes, after they've grown up and finally died down and are brown colored, that's when to harvest potatoes. While you are harvesting from TPS plants from green thriving plants.

You might get even more next time if you wait until the tops totally die off ;) And I am trying these this coming season! They look like fingerling. Do they taste like fingerling?

i tried tps and had one plant survive but some kind of grub got in there and ate it before it formed tubers.

Potatoes don't grow true from seed, but it's still fun to see what you get. Just don't expect massive yields.

What was your heat mat set to? I read before to have 60-70F for germination
