Otherwise known as an English Electric Type 1 or 'Choppers' within the spotting fraternity, the Class 20 locomotives in BR days could be found the length and breadth of Britain. Numbering 228 in total one could almost divide that figure by 2 as they were most frequently seen in pairs working a variety of turns from coal traffic to passenger workings. Their appealing and distinctive sound made these locos popular amongst enthusiasts. Here are a small handful of the class during BR days at various locations as depicted in the film.
