The ride along!
As I always say thanks a million to all my subscribers, and thanks to everyone that watches my videos, if you haven’t subscribed please consider doing so, I like my subscribers quite a bit more than my none subscribers I almost love them, not quite love but better than friends😆
Thanks to the commenters and folk that share these on, they’re intended as light hearted entertainment, some are absolute crackers some a bit more serious. I love the model railways, I love filming them going about their business and I love chatting about them. No one in my house is interested in listening to me chat about them, hence I chat to you guys. Feel free to ask any questions.
The intention of this channel is to come at a different angle from the usual and do my own thing which may or may not be everyone’s cup of tea.
It gets me some peace up here in the loft though so I’ll keep it going. I only have a small fleet as they’re all the new sound fitted models and it’s a new hobby so don’t expect a different loco in each video. Hope you like this one, cheers! Dave

For some strange other worldly reason I thought It wer bigger. You have quite a bit in there. It does look damn good.(Especially from the cab of a 37) If mine turns out as good as, I would be well chuffed. You should be , well done.

Us kiwis are often mistaken for aussies, so we're pretty used to it. When visiting the UK last year, everyone thought I was an aussie. Kiwi's by nature are quite timid and quiet, hence my low profile sub to your channel. What draws me to your channel is the insanely fresh take you have towards railway modelling and how you illustrate this through your channel, it's brilliant, entertaining and embeds the viewer into your layout. It's all well and good to build a model railway, but it's the stories that can be generated that are equally as important. It brings life to an otherwise static miniature world. I'm also very intrigued by your no-holes-barred approach to weathering locomotives that has produced some outstanding results. I think this is an area where we're all petrified of destroying a very expensive model. Keep up the great work. Cheers, Julian

Hi Julian, thanks for the comment, prior to starting this channel I didn’t bother commenting on anything and also just watched quietly. When I saw you on the subscribers list I was really surprised hence why I mentioned it, hope you don’t mind. I’ve been following your videos since I first got the idea of the model railway hobby, the retaining wall next to the station as you will probably recognise is a converted Metcalfe viaduct bridge that you put out on a video a few years ago, I’ve never mentioned that but 100% was inspired from you so thanks for that. I’m shocked at the support and interest in my channel, I started it off just to share with a few friends and it’s took off much better than I expected! Thanks for watching and thanks for the supportive comments really appreciate that.👍👍

Top bloody notch Dave... even dimming the cab through the tunnels, nice small touches. I was half expecting to see our red-eyed ladderman strapping a few damsels to the rails. I guess I should wish too much ill upon the poor people of LJ. They've been through enough. This layout is actually bloody massive, my word.

Fantastic. I love your weathering and the detail. You have spent a lot on figures also and the results are worth it. The temperature in my loft in Portugal 🇵🇹 is now hitting 30° and only now am I starting to work on my layout. Please let us know how you did that video and what equipment you used etc. I don't think I could ever match you but would love my own record of developments on my N gauge layout. Only 35 metres of track!

Very nice that Dave. My nerves held out for that one, which is a bonus👍 I’ve not been to Betty’s cafe thankfully, although I’ve walked past a couple of times, now you’ve said it makes sense…. Some of the folk round there don’t look too good🤢 Cracking view of the layout, I’ve got one of those cube cameras somewhere, which I got a few years ago on the back of a New Junction video…never got round to filming anything though, most of my layout is a mess! 😆 The loft here is the same, sweaty. I went up the other day just to get some stuff out & like I said there was a mahoosive alien wasp thing buzzing around up there & a horrible hairy spider running a muck around the Loco shed! All happened since that orb landed up your way, it’s more than a coincidence if you ask me… Keep up the good work, I’m off to watch some rivet counters counting rivets on “rivetube” Cheers John b👽

Glad you liked it John - yeah it’s so warm now I wish I’d stuck in a couple of velux windows in and done better insulation but when I started I wasn’t sure if I was going to get fed up. Talking of cool as a cucumber Dave, my railway room hit 46 degrees this week! Not great when you are still on baseboard construction; I shed pounds! #modellertakesasauna. Decent that means you’ve got a few episodes to watch 👍 I don’t think I can ever complain again at the temperature in mine if you’ve hit 46 already!! I think 39 is the hottest mines ever got (using far to blow the unventilated heat around me) Will try and sort a red buffers cab out and incorporate the cab shots into my vids 👍 Luckily the NZ thing has been addressed in my latest vid 😆 cheers pal

Hi Sion it’s an old Drift Stealth 2 camera - it’s only 1080p and no where near the quality of the iPhone I use but does the job 👍

Dave this is a spectacular view really well done. How did you get the cab view into the video? What do you think of Foamex? Do you have an extractor fan in the roof? Your attention to detail is terrific. The retaining walls look great as they are. Did you bake that green bridge or is it a Wills/Peco kit? I put some of those Chinese figures into an HST after amputating their kegs🤣 It is difficult to generate a good following as it is a small niche market with lots of competition. I have watched all the big channels along with Mr Beast etc but still haven’t broken the code🤣 I used foamboard for concrete walls, I pulled off the top paper cover then painted it with a variety of colours. Quite effective. Thanks for the tour Cheers

I layered several of the same pictures some brighter some darker (for shaded areas) over the original video then cut the windows out to show the track. Foamex I really like it, we had loads of scrap at work from some out of date signs so I got loads for free none left now though, all my platforms are made with it, the multi story car park is, and many of the retaining walls. The loft room is all sealed no fan no windows no gaps no spiders… well I got one spider which almost closed me down but I got rid of it. The green girder bridge is one of those wills kits with all the individual squares and bits, they look decent when built but I find em a pain to build. At one stage I had a load of foam board on the layout for scenery like you say is great stuff and quick to use too. I’m not trying to be one of the big channels mate, in the limited world of model railways I limit myself further by putting crazy videos out with folk getting ran over and stuff 😁 just enjoying the process and having fun with it. Who’s Mr Beast lol ?!? I’m so new to this game I’m like a newbie 😆😆😆 - think I answered it all 👍 cheers
