Class 58 Roadtrip! 58022 hauled by Allelys Group - 18/08/20

British Rail Class 58 58022, owned by the Ivatt Diesel Recreation Society, takes to the road on the rear of one of Allelys Group's purpose built rolling-stock trailers. The locomotive, now stripped of most internal components, including the engine, was moved from Peak Rail's Rowsley South yard to the main base for LMS 10000 at Wirksworth on the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, accompanied by a police escort.
The Ivatt Diesel Group, who are setting out to recreating LMS 10000, aim to use 58022's chassis as the basis of their project, with the remaining components, including engine, cabs and bogies, being sold off to raise additional funds.

Excellent video, loading and unloading was very interesting. Skillful heavy haulage driver, all the parked cars still have their mirrors!

That truck driver has some great driving skills and experience getting by all those parked cars without hitting any

Indeed, always very tight getting down that road, even without several tons of locomotive behind you!

@@BrickishRail there is an Irish rail video up with the delivery of the 201 class locomotive to inchicore works in Dublin in the earlier hours of the morning of April 15th 1994 with a fully assembled and engined 125 tonne loco on a multiple wheel flat deck

Yes, I believe many of the parts which are of no use to the group will be sold on to help the restorations of other class 58s

The loco looks pretty much stripped , is it going to donate more parts or is it going to be rebuilt ?

The chassis and some other components are being used for the LMS 10000 rebuild project, with the remaining parts of the locomotives being donated for use in other preserved 58s, I believe one of the cabs is planned to be restored for display too
