Class 801, HSTs, Royal Train & Class 88 at Darlington on 15th February 2018

Scenes from Darlington station on 15th February 2018. Trains seen are as follows:
Class 801 No. 801101 during a Doncaster Carr Depot to Edinburgh test run.
A Virgin Trains East Coast service from Edinburgh to London Kings Cross departs.
67005 & 67006 pass with the Royal Train following a visit to County Durham by HRH Prince of Wales.
A VTEC service arrives from Edinburgh bound for London Kings Cross.
A Direct Rail Services Class 88 passes with a driver training run from Newcastle to York.
These scenes were videoed between 10:00hrs and 12:30hrs.

Fantastic compilation Jeff...what a fine set of captures....hard to believe that after 40 years of loyal service, the HST's days are numbered.

Great video. Very lucky with the royal train, would have gone to see it myself but when it passed I was still sleeping xD. Gutted I missed it.

88010 at the south end of York station this pm (Friday). A good catch today Jeff.

Goodness, a lot going on there. The movements of the Royal train aren't publicized are they, did you work out when it would be passing by guesswork?

Thanks for your comments Andrei. I seen the Royal train pass mine on my way to Darlington but was unaware of where it was going. I seen it unexpectedly at Darlington after i left the station and returned. The movements are not published. Regards, Jeff.

Great variety in a relatively short space of time Jeff! The train shed at Darlington is very impressive and well captured too. Was the 88 route learning for future traffic? Cheers. Ken

Boy-o-boy! Those Rover tickets really are giving better value for money, nowadays. But did they serve a decent brew on board and were the other passengers decent enough or an unruly bunch? LOL

It was a bit different this train Allan. Loads of room on it! Can't understand the fuss about overcrowding these days. As for the catering it was first class with lots of stewards and chefs. There was a guy on called Charles, i think he was from Wales by the sound of it. Suppose he would have had to change at York on to a Cross Country service. Regards, Jeff.
