A class action, also known as a class action lawsuit, or class suit, is a type of lawsuit where one or more people work with a class action lawyer to bring justice to themselves and a larger group of people who have had similar experiences. This group is called a “class.” These lawsuits are powerful and cost-effective because they allow people to band together and put forward a single claim. They give individuals access to justice, and the public sees them as a social service, because they hold large companies and governments accountable, helping to change their behaviour.
Each Canadian province and territory operates with its own court system. Most civil claims such as class action lawsuits can be filed in provincial or territorial superior courts. The Federal Court of Canada has jurisdiction in matters relating to specific federal statutes such as class-action lawsuits against the federal government, a federal ministry, or the Crown agency. The Federal Court can also hear cases against private parties for claims based on federal statute violations. Western Canadian Shopping Centres v Dutton, [2001] 2 SCR 534, was a landmark case in which the Supreme Court of Canada provided a procedural blueprint authorizing class action proceedings in all Canadian jurisdictions. Prince Edward Island relies on Dutton for the structure of its class action proceedings. All other provinces have provincial class proceedings statutes, while Québec has enacted class action provisions in its Code of Civil Procedure.

I am involved in a class action against Ford Motor Company regarding a duel clutch in the Ford Focus and Fiesta. The law suit was won in 2020 and apparently they started quarterly payments at that time. I have received no money nor are they sending any updates about it. At this point I feel like something shady is going on with the Law firm and am wondering if the plaintiff's could get together should they file a suit against the Law Firm? It's very unprofessional for them to not even keep us informed about the situation. They could add something to their existing website giving some sort of ETA on payment.

Why is unequal protection of the laws condoned for the Poor who can afford Justice the least under our form of Capitalism? We should have no simple poverty or any homelessness in our at-will employment States due to unequal protection of the at-will employment laws for unemployment compensation. It really should be that simple to solve simple poverty on an at-will basis in our at-will employment State of California. Is employment at the Will of Either party for public policy purposes or not in our at-will employment State of California? Our current regime of unequal protection of the laws makes it seem like only the State or the capitalist-employer, as the Richest under our form of Capitalism have recourse to good faith execution of the literal meaning of employment at-will. "The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States." (Source: US Constitution, Article IV, Section 2.) "A person may not be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law or denied equal protection of the laws;" (Source: California Constitution.)
