I did this exercise myself a year ago, not having seen your video, and ended up going through exactly the same process and issues. the Fill surface with spline guide curves really works best. Well done.

Very good. You call also bring the first attempt back onto the midpoint, with a fullness control, but it's a worse result. On thing you may not know is that when multiple copies of these are arrayed in the desired pattern to produce a lattice the edges still aren't tangent. You've piqued my curiosity with this video, and I've tried a couple of ways with only minimal success, thus far.

Correct, the Fullness Control on this is a little messy. Their is also N-Sided Surface which was not pretty as well. I have not seen Tangent edges on any version thus far unless it was made using STL data. I will figure out a method for surfaces but it will be tricky. Cheers!

SPLINES, omg yes, im going to try it ou in Inventor and see if that solves the error I get when later trying to boolean the gyroid with other geometry. Thankyou, BTW this is the only CAD related gyroid video ive found so far.

instead of arcs, use formulas that are much closer to a gyroid, such as y=atan(sin (t*360))

Not all CAD systems support the making of a body with a formula. NX does have that capability but, it will be a convergent body. This is a simple non-formula method and can be thickened and 3D printed.

It's NX 1847, they change from major release to continuous updates. The name from now on will be only Siemens NX. I read somewhere that 18 is the year of release and 47 the week.

Giacocmo is mostly correct. 1847 is the year Siemens, as a company, was first founded.

the arc height is 1/4th length of the side of the cube
