OMG so surprised to see one still going. I used to play this in an arcade in Gibraltar back in 1986. Had a few top scores too as I was on it so much.

Like many on here, I used to play this game all the time back in 1986. In fact, I remember playing the 4 player version and staying there until someone beat me in a race. I had my Walkman on listening to My most recent mix tape while playing this game too. Atlanta had many cool arcade back in the day and I was probably at most of them!

When you insert a coin in paperboy or any sprint variation you always heard that “Gong” . Great memories - still play this on an emulator from time to time

I have this going sound on my phone to go off when I get a voicemail and it freaks everyone out when they hear it saying it sounds creepy. To me, it reminds me of my youth in the arcades.

Oddly enough, despite spending some time in a real race car in the past, I've never really enjoyed racing games like Rush and Outrun. But I LOVE these types. I need to clear out some space in the game room and get me a three-player Danny Sullivan Indy Heat or Ironman Stewart.

Fantastic game, absolutely loved this was hard game but patience is required lol, along with seawolf and outrun in my top five arcade games of all time .😁😁

Never played this version but the arcade I frequented the most had Super Sprint. Basically the same game except 3 players could play at once. Abs I think it had a couple of extra tracks.

I have a small idea to why a medium res graphics is that atari had this as a mean to knock out the competetors or at least to lead the pack. But in pc`s you got 16 bits up to 32 bits all depends on the grahpics card . I beleve that since they had a dedicated graphic chips they could get it up to 31 bits in the graphics department. And if you have the chance to open up the back and check the mother board for a graphic chip or if there is a separete graphics card.

There's no seperate card but you may be onto something, they may have been trying to deep six the competition :) You have to keep in mind too, though, that Wells Gardner was the ones making the monitors so I'm sure they were in Cahoots :)

A few different Trax. And u could upgrade the helicopter speed (no one used this upgrade), but it was useless.

We sold it awhile back to a gentleman from Texas, who drove all the way here... he planned on turning it into a Paperboy. Can you believe that???

Awesome, love that game, i want to buy one if i can.. i'm in N.z.. and i was the most kick-ass mothafka that eva was in my hometown on that game lmao!!.. :D Without trying to sound too arrogant about it.. 20 years ago my friend said to me ' i heard you were the best on this game'.. i was like 'nah.. not me bro..' lol.. but actually i was lying to him.. i was! :D Love that game man! It will provide a lot of highs for you on the weed lol... A lot! Probably why that dude frove all the way from Texas to get it lmao!!.

You suck! Haha, just kidding. I played exactly like that awhile back. Once you get the hang of it, the steering-like you said-is totally fun when you spin the heck out of the wheel! It does help to ease off the pedal at times! :D Thanks for posting!
