We spend some time at Eastfield depot where we see a number of loco's moving around the depot as well as trains passing on the main.

Absolutely brilliant I grew up watching the sprinters from my grans window from the balgrayhill tower blocks i remember it was closed with a few sidings then seen it getting reopened also seen freights and few shunting manoveres going to st Rollox that’s what got me being a rail enthusiast

Great footage. I used to cycle up there a few times in my younger days from the east end of Glasgow. Eastfield in on the north side of Glasgow.

Walked up there once and probably should have just joined all the spotters that were wandering in the front gate lol

This was my old depot when I was a fireman with BR 1974 my uncle was a mainline driver we spent many shifts together I drove all these engines class37s queen st to Oban day shift and night shift on the ghost train and push &pulls class 27 queen st to Waverley Edinburgh triple header 37s from barassie Ayrshire with massive coal trains a life time ago

Awesome memories hearing these loco's. My wee nana used to live in the Parkhouse scheme directly opposite (west) on Crowhill street and i'd listen and watch out the window for hours fascinated by the trains and noises, we had a perfect view of the whole depot :D

That sounds like an awesome spot you had to watch the depot. I'm pretty sure that was my 1 and only visit there!

Nice to see , but it was so better in the early 80's... More 27's 26s and 20's... Even 25's .. Use to visit Eastfield often as a young teenager in my trainspotting days .. Amazing on a winter's day when they would run a lot of engines.. All those whistling 20's 😅

Hi,the video footage is perfect!,I'm currently building an exact copy of this depot in 00gauge at present .thankyou for capturing these now long gone scene's when it really was interesting to watch trains cheers IAN RANKIN.

Went there several times in mid 70's when it was always packed with 26's & 27's. Only Toton ever had more locos back then. Only Crewe and Stratford came close to coming second for most locos on shed.

I know to deal the line at the bottom of the screen. Use a DVD player & zoom 1 step in, while recording to a DVD or PC.

Eastfield wasn't 64A, it was 65A. 64A was St Margarets on the east side of Edinburgh, 64A later transferred to Millerhill after St Margarets closed.

I remember this being closed by the time I started getting the train to Glasgow from Linlithgow every day in 1997.

I believe it closed sometime in 1993 as I think the next time visited and went past the buildings were all gone.

@@paekokstationmaster5032 eastfield very much still operational it's Cowlairs that is no longer operational as a carriage yard but network rail have built a signal control center in its place
