PCBWay Big Xmas Sale Nov. & Dec. Shopping Festival!: www.pcbway.com
Yes!! I now have merch: teespring.com/stores/learnele... Electronics themed T-Shirts!
HEY YOU ABOUT TO POST SOMETHING STUPID:
Yes, I know my hands are large/fat. It's because of a heart condition I suffer from called Congestive Heart Failure. Here's a link to some information about CHF: cle.clinic/2TdS2Ux
One of the symptoms is that is causes fluid retention, mostly in the hands, feet/ankles, and face.
It will kill me one day. I'm doing ok right now, but someday...

Hi Paul, very nice, as you are aware Im sure,... this is exactly how a D to A circuit Works with weighted values,.. very good,.. one formula we can never forget (Rf/Rin)*-1 for inverting op amp.... cheers Paul... 73s and Happy New Year all the best for 2020

Yep, I tried not to get too deep into the theory. Tends to scare some folks off, but you are right on about the formula and the use as a DAC.

why not recycle some clipped component leads or just put some 20 or 22 guage wires on your 9v clip? btw when i worked with Opamps they had me build a +9 -9 source they taught me how to wire 2 9volt clips to make that happen.i note you only use +9 on op amp circuits.

Ok. Input 1 from a microphone (or mic amp), input 2 from an rf oscillator, output would be an amplitude modulated rf? Standard AM transmitter?
@nigeljohnson9820
@nigeljohnson9820 4 жыл бұрын
No that is not correct. The op-amp is performing a sum ( a signal addition). Amplitude modulation is a multiplication between the RF signal and the audio signal.

Even seeing this, I struggle with it. Why can’t I take three wires run into the same source with 10k resistors and “sum the voltages”? Of course this is silly, but why is it silly?
@tenlittleindians
@tenlittleindians 4 жыл бұрын
Does the op amp require a power source larger than the sum of the inputs or was the 12v source just what you had laying around? Could this circuit be used with a standard computer power supply to tie several of the 12v outputs together to make a higher output voltage such as a 24v supply and with three leads a 36v supply? It seems too simple.

How would you do a non-inverting version, Paul?
@learnelectronics
@learnelectronics 4 жыл бұрын
Non inverting is not a good idea in this case. You lose the virtual ground and your inputs will interfere with each other.

Now I finally understand how a calculator works 😋
@nigeljohnson9820
@nigeljohnson9820 4 жыл бұрын
Calculators work digitally, but you know that. The op-amp summing circuit is one of the circuit elements contained in an analogue computer. These were once used to demonstrate and solve differential and integrals equations. They are still the bases of analogue feed back networks used to control motor speeds. The ubiquitous PID controller. Proportional + integral + differential feed back circuit.
