I generally hop up from midsize cars to boogie vans and never had much interest in fullsize cars like Galaxie, though it is a size that no longer exists, can tow trailers if they have hitches, and at least I can sleep in them sideways across the benches, where I can't quite stretch out across my B200s, though I lived in my B100 for about 2 months, and spent close to another month in a G20, so at least the wagons have some redeeming value.

My dad passed away this past January. He left me a 63-1/2 Galaxie with a 427 before he passed (originally a 390 Cruise-O-Matic car). The 427 was the 427 out of his R car he had before starting a family. He kept the engine, had it in a 67 Mustang for a while. Then put it and a C6 in the 63-1/2 in the early 80’s. Hasn’t ran in a couple years. Hope to get it on the road soon.

For what its worth, I put a whole can of Seafoam cleaner in my 22R pickup motor and ran it 200 miles. Changed the oil and then put a whole quart of Marvel oil in and ran the motor another 200 miles. "ALL" of the carbon that once came out the exhaust was gone and the oil pressure at idle went from 10 to 25 lbs and the running pressure went from 60 to 75 lbs. Then I ran some "Restore" engine treatment and the power went up about 15% but the mileage stayed the same. Now I put Marvel oil in the gas. 1 table spoon per tank. An old tired 22R is now running cooler and much more smoothly. Like Leno, I'm not much for mechanic in a can. Hope that helps!!

Otherwise, it was mechanically identical to this one. My mother kept the car after he bought a new one in '67 -- it became the car in which I learned to drive and was my favorite car of all of them he had. My dad always believed the 352 FE block V-8 was the best engine Ford ever built. I would love to have that car but I already have a '55 Chevy that is my money pit. When you are pondering the stories behind cars ponder these: Our family cars in my lifetime pre leaving home were, in order - a 56 Ford, the '64 Galaxy, a '67 Mustang, My '64 Fairlane and a '75 Galaxy. 3 yr. old me piloted the '56 to a crash down a hill after I knock it out of gear while I was singing Roger Miller songs. My older sister bailed out and avoided the hell I wrought. The family took the '64 Galaxy from Texas out to L.A. to see Micky Mouse and the Watts Riots. I was amused by all the fire trucks. The '64 Galaxy ate up US 66, it was a sweet ride. The '67 Mustang was in the care of a sisters boyfriend and failed to beat a train at a crossing. He lived the Mustang died. I bought my '64 289 Fairlane in '74 for $500 with paperboy earnings. I got my license at 14 (Texas, old school, child labor reasons) That was an amazing car and it got me through high school. My first major upgrade to the Fairlane was an 8-track. The $13 Hotel California tape cost more than the tape deck. As a driver was more or less forbidden to touch the Galaxies, but I had the Fairlane. The '64 Galaxy was sold in 75 and murdered in an icy road roll over a week later, the new owner was not up to the awesomeness it brought to the table. I love that your Galaxy has a wedding story.

Cruise-O-Matic was name given to the green/white dot, dual range automatic transmissions. Early C4 & C6 were Cruise-O-Matics. Name dropped in '67 when the "normal" PRN321 was finally implemented. Same transmission in Mercury were Merc-O-Matic. I owned two '64 Fastbacks. One loaded with 390 & Cruise-O, other 289 & three on tree that was my favorite. I bought & swapped 390 & three on tree drive train from a identical T-boned '64(less than half the miles). Sold both in the early/mid '70s in favor of a four speed 428 Cobra Jet Cobra Fairlane that I still have.

Mine did have power steer, that must be a bear to turn! Video was great, good luck with it! On your barn, I'd get some brown paint (exterior or deck paint) and paint them. Getting pressure treated was a good choice! Also, DO NOT burn pressure treated wood! Anywhere! Fire pit, fire place, bon fire, ANYWHERE! Pressure Treated gives off fumes of the treating chemicals when burned. At one point it was arsenic. Enough said on that. Good luck with all your projects!

And the board had thousands of tiny little sticks coming out the bottom of it. A guy was pushing it around the floor in the lumber department and the only problem he was having is that it kept building up dirt in front of the tiny sticks. Anyway, thinking outside the box like I do, it occurred to me that they might have one of those things in Iowa and maybe they'd let you borrow it for your barn floor.

The early Ford cruiseomatic transmission would let you start out in 2nd gear which was great on snow covered days. I also worked in a Texaco service station back in the 1960s, it was difficult to sell detergent oil to many of the old timers. Many insisted that detergents in the oil would loosen the sludge causing engine damage. Detergent oil was rated at S/A back then, i miss those days.

You know, I find myself doing a " Monologue " when I'm working on my Ford Ranger! What's funny is, not only do I NOT have a you tube channel, I also don't have a camera recording either!! I guess we're all a little crazy!! LOL! Love the videos', keep up the good work!!

The other day I was making threats to my wife's jeep as somehow here steel wheels had seized themselves to the brake rotors. In a garage, by myself - no one around. Glad there aren't cameras 😄

I don't monologue myself, but I do whistle the Indiana Jones theme to myself, particularly when I haphazardly climb on machinery to work on it.

For many years I have always put a half quart of marvel in the oil and the other half in the gas as my maintenance routine. After I put Marvel down the plug holes many years ago, and ran the engine for 20 minutes, seeing the plugs come out sparkling clean, I use it just to keep things clean.

The 64 ford galaxy was my favorite car when I was a kid. Nice car.

I get a laugh at the little changes you do to your name in the beginning of the videos. Some of that wipe on clear would look good on this car as well. Its always a welcome treat to get a video from you. Thank you for taking the time to put these out.

I am almost speechless after watching you wash your car. I am the opposite I wash and wax my vehicles often, it is much easier than wrenching, but still do the wrenching and I would have painted the valve covers after detailing the whole engine bay, it is just me the old bald clean guy. Love the video.

I think I burned myself out in high school - I was nuts about waxing my cars and keeping them clean and worked as a mechanic/detailer for 2 years at a used car dealer - this might be thenfirst time since then I did anything like that, and honestly it was pretty enjoyable. I must not be burned out on it anymore - helps that I can park inside so it somewhat maintains the exterior after all that work which I never could till very recently

Hey Luke, as far as covering up the wood beams. I used Behr waterproofing stain and sealer. I used cordovan brown on some cedar planks for my landscaping border. Got it at lowes or home depot. 2 coats, no wiping off, it's more of a paint than a stain, worked out well for me. Thanks for sharing the video, appreciated the info about the valve covers, I have to replace the ones on my 78 Bronco, I bought premium cork gaskets and will follow what you did.

Had a dark red 77 Buick that was so oxidized it was pink. It had a bunch of spots on the deck lid where people had something that would clean it, tried, they all failed. There was this spot on the fender were some brake fluid had dripped when changing the master, and the paint looked perfect. Took a towel put a little brake fluid on it and gave it a quick rub, and wow. So I rubbed the whole car down, followed by a paint thinner rub down, and a hand wash. That paint looked good for 10 years after that.

Both back-up lights work!!!!! Crazy... I can't have both of those work for very long on my wife's newer car!😁
