If I remember the original arcade cabinet correctly, grabbing enemies was done with a thumb-pressed button on top of the joystick.

I'll never forget the 1st time I laid eyes on this game at a bowling alley arcade as a kid in the late 80's along with Haunted Castle, Shinobi & Punchout...... & indeed I was amazed at it too! It was another 1 of the many NES games I wound up playing that dissapointed me at first by being so different then their arcade counterpart, but I wound up loving it & both versions hold some of the highest nostalgia of all to me today. I recently got the Lynx version & although I've been playing it quite a bit, still can't make it to the last round. Frustrating as hell, but worth the abuse haha

I used to play A LOT this game on the 80s (still play it from time to time, tbh). This game is really awesome. This game is also called "Shadow Warrior".

This game is also out for the Wii Virtual Console Arcade but the music is slightly altered. (The Road Warriors Boss Battle Music was removed because it sounds dangerously close to Black Sabbath's "Iron Man" song.)

Oh cool! Do Kid Nikki Radical Ninja, next! That was an arcade game that was addicted to back in the day. I found out years later (pretty recently actually) that the Kid Nikki character was just a bootleg version if Goku from the original Dragon Ball series as his arcade flyer art is basically ripped from the cover art of said comic. That being said the American version of the arcade artwork is far creepier and strange or just plain Kitsch (which is something I love about arcade machine. I love classic games and I love classic game room! Yay Ninja Week! ----- en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kid_Niki:_Radical_Ninja -----

First 'Phar Mor' reference I've ever heard. Nice. I remember getting Punch-Out! and Metroid for NES there brand new in box for like 5-10 bucks each. This was when the N64 was on its way, and they were trying to unload old NES games. Good times. Edit: Or it might have been a 'Going Out of Business' sale. Either way, a good memory.

jons44 Let's split the difference: I usually played in 2P mode and as long as you didn't run out of quarters, you just re-spawned. That said, I didn't think it was that hard of a game, mostly using the techniques he mentioned in the video.
