This is literally my most favorite game of all time, i still play it to this day. This game keeps track of mileage, and i have put over 60,000 miles in this game. Handling isn't bad, just crank down the boost a bit and put some high grip tires on. Still a classic! In fact, gonna put it on right now.

I loved this game so much. There was and still is nothing like it: the grind was perfect and relaxing I would just put in some music and disconnect from reality and play until my fingers hurt forgetting about all my high school problems lol .

I feel the handling model in TXRZ is quite realistic. Maybe that's why people don't like it as much. People seem to overlook the upgrades that improve aero and lighten the body, which are essential to good handling both in-game and in real life

Nice timing, I picked it few days ago. Really fun, but I probably never gonna finish it. There is above 300 drivers to defeat and sometimes it's really hard.

I loved all the TXR games (though I never could get into the drifting ones) - but this is the one I played the most. Just watching this review makes me want to break out my PS2. A couple buddies and I would stay up all night taking turns on the same save. Terrible physics, but good times. It's like a fighting game / RPG - but it looks like a driving game. You called that Lancer Evo a Subaru on purpose, didn't you?

Aero parts are a huge part of handling in this game and is sometimes overlooked. I think that’s a big reason why people say the handling is bad in this game.

Compared to the third game on PS2, this one looks to have more diverse traffic in terms of non-racer drone cars. In the third game, it seemed like all of the drone cars were yellow airport shuttles which made it feel a bit surreal.

In this game, u can unlock a car which equipped with a machine gun and you can shoot it to others cars and the cars will move forward. I'm not joking! Just forget whether you should beat a wanderer or a boss to unlock it.

So from what I can gather, It's just a port of TXR2 on the dreamcast but with extra content? It looks worse than the dreamcast version. There is a serious amount of jaggies and half the framerate of the dreamcast version as well.

57Rye, It's the definitive version of TXR2. Better lighting, better draw distance, real time reflections. etc. I agree about the jaggies though.

Its far better on the ps2 i have both versions. Dreamcast suffers from slowdown ,fake lighting, annoying replays after every race. Cant turn around and drive in reverse to get to rivals faster. Il take a bit of jaggies for a superior and smoother running game

Yeah as other have said it's better overall. DC game still great but has tons of slowdown. PS2 version is also 60fps so not half frame rate.

Mark even though you already got your footage for your review, you should've done research on he cars where if you get one of them to 1860 miles, you unlock extremely powerful parts and thus allowing you to rain hell upon the enemies

Hey Mark (and mention this to Derek as well if you can), sorry about the Pittsburgh Pirates being shut down by the Cubs and stupid Jake Arrieta and got eliminated in the postseason. i know that bad feeling all too well so i can relate to that (remembers Yankees also got shut down by the Astros and Dallas Keuchel). let's pray that both the Cubs and Astros don't make it to the World Series, let alone win the whole damn thing themselves. This game, ehh, what can I say. The physics are awful. Handling is poor. The graphics are shoddy. But my god. I love this game. I put so many hours into it. It’s so cheesy and yes definitely a guilty pleasure. But on you know, the person who you tell/lend it to will also love it :)

Import tuner challenge wasn't the original name. The series is actually called Wangan Midnight in Japan. But when they brought it to the U.S. They changed the name to Tokyo Extreme Racer. Then Ubisoft picked it up on the 360 and changed the name again.
